Not sure if this is the right catergory to post in, move it if its wrong.
Anyways, have anyone seen this game for sale on Ebay? If so, how much does it usualy go for? A link with a finished auction (if any) would be nice :)
Same goes for Rodland and Uforia too. I know Rodland is for sale now tho, will be cool to see how much it goes for.

The last Mr. Gimmick I saw went for like $200.
I think I paid about $20 for the vastly superior Famicom version.

Rodland? 6$
Really, here on Spain, the last one I saw a year ago went for that (wish I knew how to bid on Ebay at that time. It´s the second time this game eludes me.). There were 3 other games included, so it really went for...
1.50$ @_@
But I´ve heard of collectors paying 200$ for the cart.

Frank, I didn't realize it was different (haven't played it yet, but want to), other than assumed language differences (if any). How is it superior?

I got my Gimmick off ebay for 90 shipped. And to answer the question above me. I think the music is of higher quality on the famicom cart.

It uses a custom sound chip. And the only text in the game is on the title screen, so it really doesn't matter. I think there might have been a line or two in the good ending, but you'll never ever see the good ending.

Tough game? Now I must play this...
The differences remind me of CVIII nes VS Famicom...much more superior version on the FC.

I got to the good ending, ONCE, with savestates. I haven't managed to do that again, and I've played this game quite a bit.

Yeah, this game seems really hard. I found the hidden treasure in the second level (had to push the cannon down a bit), but I missed it entirely in the first level.
So, it got a Euro and Japanese release?

The first level treasure is pretty easy. On the section where you start, all the way on the right, is the tube leading to the lower level. DON'T GO IN THE TUBE. You'll notice a block on the right side of the screen that's just inaccessible. Find the right angle to throw your star, so it hits and bounces back. Then jump on top of it, ride it for a split second, and jump on top of that block. Then jump up, and you'll get to the hidden upper area of the stage, where the treasure can be found.
EDIT: Yes, Europe and Japan only, though it's pretty rare in Europe.

Did you continue? You can't continue either. Beating the game with no continues and all treasures unlocks the secret final stage.

As i thought :( I didnt mention that i used continues.
Damnit, gotta play it again. The magic item on level 4 and 6 was pretty hard.
Tnx for the help :)

Yes, or to be more precise, it got a Japanese and a Scandinavian release. It hasn't been to hard to find here in the past but the price for it has gone up lately, here are two finished auctions:
Cart (http://www.tradera.com/auction/aid_10061542), finished for 551 SEK ($78)
Cart and box (http://www.tradera.com/auction/aid_10010704), finished for 765 SEK ($108)

One thing that can help make getting the best ending easier, is a certain spot on level 5. In the hidden treasure area, right when you enter, (There will be a springboard nearby) go to the left. In it is a room with a bunch of bomb jars. Pushing two of them into each other will turn them into a red jar that gives you a 1up. You can get 2 1ups. Afterwards, jump into the water and lose a life. On your next life, you'll start right at the springboard, and you can go to the left room again, where the jars will be back. After mixing some of the jars and getting 2 lives, kill yourself again. Repeat the process until you are confident you have enough lives to help you through the rest of the game. (You can have a maximum of 99, but it is really tedious getting that high.)

I just checked the music for Gimmick! (japanese title) and it have 8 chan music! Normal NES games have 5 chans.
How come that not more games used 8 chan music?

Because doing so requires an expensive sound chip to be put into the cartridge, which is only compatible with the Famicom.

I had no idea Gimmick had multiple endings. I've actually NEVER played this game before. Out of the 1000+ NES/Famicom/PAL NES games out there, somehow I just keep overlooking this.
Did you guys know Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde has a good ending?

How do you get it? Does this good ending actually show Jekyll and his wife leaving the church?

A new FAQ for the game was posted at gamefaqs (which I can't seem to get into right now) which states that if you let Hyde pass by Jekyll in the last stage (you won't get struck by lightning if you take Hyde over the rooftops above where Jekyll is in the real world), you fight a final boss when you get to the church as Hyde. After beating the boss Hyde turns back into Jekyll. Complete the game as Jekyll now (there will no longer be any enemies) and you get the alternate ending, which does indeed show the bride and groom walking down the isle.
I would have never thunk a game this old and mundane would have had the ability to conceal a twist ending within.

Adaml: How about that? So the designers weren't *completely* stupid regarding the ending. I figured at the very least showing Jekyll with his wife in the ending would be a no brainer. It is however, pretty crappy of them to pull something like that considering how annoying this game is. It was hard enough getting to the end. Guess I'll have to play through it again. Since I notice that FAQ mentions the Japanese version's ending being slightly more complete, (The girlfriend waiting for you by the church) I might as well just play through that instead of the US one.
Its kind of a pitty this game is so terrible. I actually like the graphical style of the game, and the music isn't so bad. (Done by Rygar's composer apparently.) If Jekyll controlled better, moved a bit faster, and wasn't so damn powerless against enemies this game would've been tolerable.

I wonder if the code is still in Mr. Gimmick to make use of the sound chip. Say, if I put (hacked) the sound chip into the cart and played it...would the 3 other music channels play?
