I've had a complete copy of the original Sim City for over a year now. Found it at a garage sale. The game is on 2 5 1/4" floppies, and is copyrighted 1989. Every once in a while I try and find one of these on ebay, and I've never been able to. Tonight I tried again, and found nothing (although I did find that Sim Farm is going for $20+, go figure). Because of 2000 being so succesful, and Sim City "classics" being widely available, I've never managed to get a firm grasp of how much this is worth. Anybody else have one? Anybody else have a value in mind? Just curious. I can't imagine it being worth that much, but I'm trying to clear a lot of my collection out, and this I'm clueless about.

Do you mean the original release for the IBM PC? With the large manual and the copy protect sheet that was a bright red?

I have that same one....and I honestly don't know what the value of that would be. Maybe you can try asking on a Sim City website or the HOTU?

OMG! The HOTU forum is back! (There goes my last shred of idle time.)

PC games are normally only worth a lot when they aren't readily available elsewhere: i.e., the King's Quest games that haven't been re-released since the mid-90s, the Ultima and Wing Commander series that EA refuses to let out of their clutches, etc.

The original Sim City is pretty easy to find; it was released in a lot of different collections. The original might be interesting to some people, but I'm not sure it would really fetch a high price because the data itself is not rare.
