Old Skool Mcdonalds Toys - 56K WARNING!

My dad picked up a book today called McDonalds Collectables - The Definitive Guide

He doesnt collect them, he just loves seeing all the old toys he used to get us when me and my sister had happy meals.

Inside were some of my favourites, the Marios and Sonics and even those Mcdonalds Boxes that transformed into monsters.

So i thought id scan them in and share with you lot at DP. Even has pics of those Mario Happy meal Boxes if you remeber them?!

Damn now i wish i kept all my greasy Mario Happy Meal Boxes!

Those are real cool even though i don't really remember them.

I do know that mcdonalds came out with the those little lcds games with different sega characters.

I still have all four Mario toys (My older brother was working at McDonald's during 1990, he hooked me up with all four)

and I still have the Knuckles figure from 1994 (Sonic 3 promo)

I remember those very clearly, since I was in high school back then... I had the Mario on a suction cup one and I still have the Sonic one (with the vehicle).

i still got the koopa troopa one it's sitting on my desk right now ,it is missing the tube and red ball thing that make it jump though :(

I have an unopened can of Chef Boyardee pasta with Sonic the Hedgehog on it....I have no idea when it's from....but old....gotta be old.

i have exactly the same problem, as a kid i ended up breaking it off! :(

I have all of those except the damn Japanese Eggman. Got about 500 million Robotniks though.

GrayFox, you need those? I can get you Sonic, Knuckles, and Robotnik very easily, I dunno if I have an extra Tails though. Those were recalled because they were marginally dangerous.

I remember really wanting that Tails flying spinner toy when these first came out, but I was never able to get one. I always thought Sonic was the character on it for some reason. Guess I was wrong.

Who am I kidding? I still want one. Guess it's time to start searching eBay...

Tee-hee. I posted a few weeks back that I came across a box of still-sealed Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Happy Meal toys at a local flea market. Grabbed 'em too.

Nope, not for sale. Will drag them out at a future trademeet or something. Just felt like braggin'. :D

I have 3 of those happy meal boxes, I framed them and hung them with my mario cereal box. :D
I have all the mario toys to, but not indivual they are in a store display. The one you see when you first walk in, it's really cool.

Man, I had all of those, except the funky looking 3-and-under Sonic toys. I even had all of those Mario boxes, if you folded them out they were like a diarama for different levels of the game...if I'm not mistaken, you could even connect them together! I remember getting frustrated, thinking that there was a box for each of the eight levels. Turns out I had a "complete set" all along.

I had the Goomba when I was a little kid, and my brother had Luigi. I recently bought them all sealed on Ebay. I still have my original Goomba though.

Sounds like a good time to be a little kid when those came out. Unfortunately I was in my 20's at the time x_x .

I do see these in the thrifts every now and then; Dumped, as they are, along with the detritus that doesn't sell at garage sales. Savers devotes a whole chunk of wall to these little grab bags they put together of nothing but kid's toys from McD's, BK etc. Was able to get multiple sets of the Sega LCD games this way. I also managed once to find the Knuckles-in-the-cloud figurine once, and a couple of the Mario ones. Gave` em to my kids. Anyway, don't go running off to Ebay just yet. Support your local thrifts!

I remember most of these...I think I've still got many of them hanging around somewhere. I see them sometimes loose at flea markets in boxes of old toys or sometimes action figures...mostly the Sonic ones tho...

I have few of the Mario ones from my child hood. I was like 6 when they came out so it was almost perfect timing for me to get happy meals.

Heh heh. I have all of the stuff from the first page (even the plastic "translite" sheet and the happy meal bag), and most of the stuff on the 2nd page. Still sealed in the bags, too!

Still have a fair amount of the Mario toys as well, but not sealed.

I had the Sonic 3 display from Mc Dees as well (the diorama that is housed inside the happy meal toy display case--inside the restaurant), but eventually I threw it away. It had a bunch of "3D" cardboard protrusions sticking out of it, as well as places where the toys would mount in the "scene". There was no good way to store it without messing it up, and so it went away.
