Does anyone know if a patch exists that will let me play Marathon on OS X. I have the original games, and I've heard of a patch that will update them to OS X, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Download and install AlephOne from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/marathon/
Bungie just released the originals for free download them (or use your disks)
http://trilogyrelease.bungie.org/
Marathon one needs a converter, the M1A1:
http://archives2.bungie.org/mos.scenarios/m1a1.sit
1. Install the Aleph one.dmg into a new folder
2. unstuff the marathon 2(or INF) and copy the Images, Map. Music, Shapes, Sounds, files and Physics Models folder into the Aleph one folder.
3. double click the AlephOne program
4. Enjoy
I just copied Aleph one into each of the marathon folders and that seems to work fine too. i have three copies of Aleph one, but it's only 4 megs.
I suggest everyone play these games, they're unfugginbelievable.

I've not heard of a patch, but you can download Aleph One, which is the "official" open-source Marathon Engine, here:
http://source.bungie.org/
It seems to work very well under OS X. Also, the three Marathon games have been released to the public for free, as discussed here:

Note that the data files from the original (first) Marathon do not currently work with Aleph One, but you can download a "conversion" called M1A1. See:
http://trilogyrelease.bungie.org/
for more information.

Otherwise, if I am not mistaken, it is possible to run Basilisk II under OS X. Basilisk II is a 68k Macintosh emulator which should be quite capable of running the Marathon games.

Hmm, Bungie.org is NOT Bungie. However, these downloads are legal (including the Marathon trilogy files themselves), as Bungie Studios have granted permission to distribute them as abandonware.
