i have oftened wonder if you could take the interior of a snes/genesis/wtf ever game and replace or redo it so that a rom or homebrew game could be played as a cartridge on the original system? kind of like the odd brazil/asian hacked or pirates carts. it would making roming or homebrewed gamed based on or intended for a certain system all the more acessible.

Not sure what you mean, but that's what most homebrewers are doing now. Common Atari, Colecovision, NES, and Intellivision carts are giving up their lives - and inner workings - to become new homebrews. In fact, Intellivision carts also double as Vectrex carts with a little modification. So, this is already happeming. I have many on my shelves at home, in fact.

This has been happening in the Neo Geo world for years, too.
Before MVS to home cartridge converters came out, the only way to play arcade-exclusive Neo releases on the home system was to gut a released home cart and transfer the chips from the MVS cart onto the home cart PCB :).
