I live in Upstate NY which is around 2 hours north of Albany, and around 45 minutes away from Burlington Vermont.
Are there any members that live in this area that have any Arcades they are willing to sell, or know what I can get a nice arcade for a decent price.
I am really looking to buy these games:
Mortal Kombat 1
Street Fighter 2
Playchoice 10
Simpson's Arcade Game
Final Fight
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Game
I already called the local arcade ventor. They have a nice Simpson's Arcade, but want $1,400 for it (which seems pretty damn steep compared to the prices I see on Ebay).
I know NOTHING about anything Arcade related, I just know that I really want at least 1 of them in my collection.
Someone please help me out. :)
Thanks
Peale

Howdy! I'm in Vermont (Brattleboro). I don't have anything for sale, though.

Sweet! I know there is at least one other member from the Burlington area.
I guess I didn't have much luck getting any Arcade cabinets locally... oh well. :(

"Arcades" = "places where you play arcade games."
"Arcade games" = what you want to buy. :)

Local vendors are, 99% of the time, the WORST place to buy from. Time = money, and you aren't worth either to them. Don't expect to get any different answers unless you're looking to buy in bulk from a vendor.

Here's the good news: most of the games you want are JAMMA, and you can buy those boards relatively cheap, especially TMNT and SF2. You'd only need to buy a single JAMMA cab and you could play all the horizontal games your heart desires, simply by switching out the boards.
Personally, I'd pass on the PC-10 machine, as it's nothing more than a big, heavy NES.
Best bet is to find a local auction and pick up a cheap JAMMA cab there, then pick up the boards you want for it on ebay or through other online sellers.

Cool, i'm from Rochester!
i would like to know the same thing, my room would look even cooler with a few arcade machines in it. i was thinkin' Ms.pac-man/Galaga, Gauntlet II, Mame, and a custom NES cabinet.

Thanks for the replies (esp. Arcade Antics).
I know what you mean about the vendors not really caring about me, but you think they would care, since the Arcade in my area that they supply with games, makes very little money. I don't really want to switch boards around and put them in different cabinets. I am really looking for a 100% original Arcade game.

Nope. Whether or not the arcades make money doesn't affect things. They just don't want to be bothered. To you it might seem like, "I just want ___ machine or ___ board." To them though, you're another "game nut" who will call with a million questions about do you have ___ or ___ or ___, etc. You see it as an opportunity for them to sell some stuff. They see it as a huge headache.
On the other hand, if you were in the market for several machines and went down there with a truck and lots of cash, they'd be happy to help you out. Probably not what you want to hear, but consider: do you know enough people that are interested in several machines as a group? If you act as the "point man" and can round up a list of several machines that you would buy so long as the guy has them, you might get farther.

Sweet. :) From the list you posted, might want to try and hunt down an MK or MKII machine. There should still be plenty of dedicated cabs around in decent shape, but they might be a little more expensive ($500 or more for MKII) depending on where you can find one.
You could also luck out and find some game for $200 or so. That would be worth buying even if it didn't work, you could learn about fixing 'em up and then any game is ripe for the picking. :)

I can tell you from very recent personal experience this is 100% right. If you can buy in "bulk" your dollar will go a lot further too.

You're pretty much guaranteed to find Ms Pac or Galaga anywhere on the planet, but be prepared to shell out big time for either one of 'em, even in lousy shape. They still make money on location, so EVERYONE wants 'em. :)

there's a dream machine place in s. burlington, and zachary's is in burlington. i'm not sure about either of these places, i've never been to either of them, i just found 'em in the yellow pages. i'm building an arcade cab for my independent study project at school, i might do either galaga, centipede or MAME.
