View Full Version : Ever do this with eBay (And Royal Mail)?

Recently, my postie has been a bit lazy... If I get parcels which need to be signed for (Recorded delivery parcels) then he doesn't bother knocking - He just posts them straight through the letter box...
"And?" - I hear you say?
Well, because they come with stickers on them which need to be removed (As proof of delivery). These stickers have numbers on them which allow you to track the parcel using Royal Mail's website... If the item hasn't been signed for, then it technically hasn't been delivered...
What the postie is supposed to do is leave a "We called" note informing me that the parcel has been taken back to the local sorting office. Certainly not just post it through the letter box! (Ok, so I suppose it saves time and effort, and I'd hate to have to go 5 miles down the road to the sorting office...)
Now this is the clever (If not a little immoral) part...
When I receive such a game (Complete with recorded delivery sticker still intact) I wait about a week, and then inform the eBay seller that I still have not received the game I have bought...
They then check the number using the website and see that it has yet to be delivered (According to Royal Mail's records).
They then make a claim for the *Lost* parcel, and they then refund my money for the game!!!
Now most people would now flame me saying that what I have been doing is immoral, but the way I see it is I am simply taking advantage of someone not doing their job properly.
So far this month, I have saved over £300!
£300 worth of games absolutely free!!!

Thats stealing. But if you feel good about stealing from the postal service, thats your problem. And why do you want to make yourself a criminal for this small amount of money?
And i dont understand why the mailman/woman leaves a registered letter without getting signed for it, thats stupid. Here its taken back to the post office and you get a notice in the mail that you have to pick it up.

Sorry mate, but thats not taking advantage of someones job, its also taking advantage of good ebay sellers and its just wrong.
If this happened to you, how would you feel?
Fair enough, we all have our own opinions, but like jajaja said, this is Stealing, and i agree.
Its not right...
and im sure many others will have the same opinons as me and jajaja so be prepared!

And did you think about that the mailman/woman can lose the job because of this? If it happends many times and you claim that you havnt recived anything, the postal service might fire him/her.

*Disclaimer* I disagree with what you are doing, ripping off the post office and / or ebay sellers */Disclaimer*
However, I think the mailman should probably lose his job, Jajaja. He isn't doing his job. Seriously, all the mailman needs to do is fill out the slip and bring the package back to his post office. If the guy is cutting corners there, he is probably cutting corners elsewhere.

Even so, honesty should be there, telling the ebay seller it arrived instead of saying it didnt!

Would you walk into Gamestation and steal games off their shelves aswell?
I mean, it's like they're not doing their job properly if they don't catch you, right?
It's because of thieves like yourself that the rest of us have to jump through hoops and have a real nightmare trying to make legitimate claims for lost goods. Thanks.

It's pure theft simple as that.
Royal mail are wrong for not doing their job, but your just as bad for making fraudulent claims.

Man the Postman is trying to do you a favor and you screw him.
The Royal Mail is doing a great job and you screw them.
The Ebay Sellers are doing incredibly well and you lie to them.
I don't know about anyone else but you ave been marked as a BAD TRADER/BUYER/SELLER in my book.
"I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul."
Personally I think you should continue your fraudualnt ways. Just keep going start ordering some expensive shit like art or antiques. And get the item and your money back.
Then pretty soon the mail serivce is gunna get smart to your dumb ass and get you on defrauding the Goverment. Then throw you away for a couple. Pretty soon you'll be the scrawny bitch that everyone calls leslie, and molests you for a good time.
Idiot.

Aren't you the same minger that was trying to sell hotmail.co.uk addresses? Claiming it was for charity then denying that?
In any case, you are a bad egg. You dishonour retrogaming, Digital Press, and England. You are one of the many reasons I have no faith in the human race. Never try to bid on any of my auctions; your money is no good to me. Fuckin klepto...

Hmm
Ya know,
Everything comes around in the end somehow and someday it all comes back to you.
Finding a toploader NES at a yard sale that they want $10 for and you talk em down to $5 does not mess up your karma because they were only expecting $3 anyway.

I have to agree that is just wrong, and after some of your comments about shill bidders and what not on other bay posts, I would have to question your honesty as well. I hope you don't have any kids, because you would be one hell of an example for em. You have a problem with the postman, than call his superior. I had to do that when my postman kept stealing my magazines. It works, better than ripping off sellers who depend on that money sometimes to pay the bills, someone has to pay in these situations, and it ends up being the rest of us.

A game I won on Ebay two weeks ago actually was lost in the mail. The seller never questioned my integrity and is sending me a new copy. I hope people like you won't discourage this kind of trust in the future.
You act like your'e just benefiting from serendipity, but you're actively creating your own scam. Every scam hurts us all as it earns the market a seedy reputation, which means that buyers and sellers will be suspicious of each other and unwilling to extend one another any degree of trust or courtesy. Even petty theft has its repercussions.

I've bookmarked this thread so that the next time people start complaining about postage going up or eBay/PayPal is raising their rates again, I can send them here and they'll understand why.

In my eBay ads, I clearly state that I only ship to the U.S. and Canada. The next time someone demands to know why, I have my answer bookmarked:

I can see being tempted to do this. That's human nature.
Doing it's a differnt thing altogether.
If the mail was the only one losing out, I can see people being a little slacker, but some poor eBay shmuck is out his game with nothing to show.
That's not cool.
How would you feel to be the seller on the end of this?

whats wrong with you?
i have a similar experience with my postman(whom i call a mailman, but that because im from the U.S.)...the reason he doesnt bother with the signing for the package isnt because hes lazy, its because the item fits through the damn slot. why make you get off your lazy, theiving ass to head '5 miles down the road' (or kilometers or whatever the hell you use over there) to go get a package that fits through the slot? your 'postman' 'postie' whatever is doing you a favor, so in your mind hes 'not doing his job' and should be punished.
you are exactly the reason people do not stop at car accidents, do not help people who are choking, etc.
'well, yes sir, im suing him because he removed me from the firey wreck of my automobile, and i now have 3rd degree burns on my hand'
well, yes sir, im suing him because he performed the Heimlich on me whilst i was choking, and broke two of my ribs'
dip shit.

That is awsome!!! I'm gonna start doing that!" I really love how in your quest for adoration, you just totally fucked yourself as far as trading on here goes.
Nice job.

Let's all jump on the band wagon and yell more. Unfortnately this is the internet, and he's protected (or so he thinks) by annonimity and lots of miles.
See the thing is that we all know that this is wrong. Its taking advantage of people doing what they are suppose to be doing (sellers shipping their games, Postal service delivering ect). Ebay will notice that you've gone and claimed so many 'lost' packages and MIGHT do something should a seller get smart and check on you. The Royal post will start to notice the same kind of thing as they get more and more claims on YOUR packages.
I know its mail fraud in the US to go and do things like that and i'm pretty sure that its fraud for the Royal Post as well. Enjoy it while you can, it all catches up to you, and has ruined what very little respectibility that you had here. Fines and jail time are fun ways to spend to save a few bucks on games. And since its always a race that we've got going on here to get the MOST games  because thats what really matters.
/me goes back to ignoring your posts as I allways have

You do realise it is mail fraud like this, that causes postage rates to keep increasing every bloody year.

I think this guy is a moron as well, but a few of you think that the eBay seller is refunding the money, and they are not. It is the postal service who is doing so. I wont buy/sell/trade with this guy, because he will most likely make a claim on it...

We know the Ebay Seller isn't refunding the money.
But the person who sent the package and insured it has to go through the trouble of going to the Post Office and claiming the insurance and then waiting for the refund and then refunding it to the buyer.
And all the time they feel like crap because of getting a package lost and having an unhappy buyer.
Oh and I.P. addresses can be tracked and the Royal mail could get a link to this site and be provided with the I.P. address .
And anyone who's done deals with this guy has his name and address.
I have a feeling that this is a joke... or a "what if" scenario... that is one of the dumbest scams I've ever heard of... you don't think that the postman would remember dropping off a bunch of packages then having them "never show up". Obviously they know where you live, and can easily come find you when they decide that you're performing mail fraud... and I believe the UK is the only country that you can be executed for mail theft (because all mail is the Queen's or something, and so you're stealing form the Queen :P ), so enjoy your games while the last!

You're right, this has either GOT to be a troll attempt just to watch us all lose our minds. Or he's serious, in which case the damage to his rep is done. I daresay - joke or not - he won't be buying, selling, or trading with anyone on these boards ever again. Ergo...
