Hmmm....

I just picked up 2 titles from a local garage sale, both of them are new in box, but the boxes are mangled/crushed. From what I can tell, the disk and cassette for each game is fine.

Slam Ball (Commodore 64 disk)

Rainbow Walker (Atari 400, 800 Cassette)

I couldn't find any information here in the DP Online Rarity Guide, so I was wondering if anyone here could shed some light on these titles.

Thanks

Hey

Rainbow walker is a really cool game kinda like Qbert. Prolly one of the top 25 for the Atari 8bit.

Never saw the other one.

Not many old 8bit games bring in much even sealed. But I remember the box art on the synapse games being a bit more creative.

Synapse stuff within the Atari and C64 communities is somewhat collectable. Pity the boxes were crushed. Some are fairly easy to find, some are less so. There's quite a lot of titles out there, but naturally I'm only familiar with the C64 ones in general.

Slamball
Drelbs
Blue Max
Blue Max 2001
Doughboy
Encounter (imported from Novagen in the UK)
Pharoah's Curse
Shamus
Shamus Case II
Protector II

amongst others...

Slamball is a pinball game. Unlike say Midnight Magic it doesn't fit the whole thing in one screen so it scrolls. It's quite good from what I remember.

I always loved Drelbs. It's one of those qwirky titles that's instantly accessable and more than a little strange. I've been seriously tempted to write about it for my website.

Blue Max was one of the first games I ever played on the Atari computer, and I was hooked right from the start. It was probably games like this (Montezuma's Revenge also comes to mind) that made me lose interest in the 2600 and Intellivision. This is still a very good game.

Huh. I actually miss Synapse. Good stuff.

Synapse? Didn't they become Blizzard eventually?

Nope, but close. Silicon & Synapse was Blizzard's original name.

No, they were actually bought by Broderbund in the end.

Synapse Software was my favorite publisher for the C64. I can still hear the theme for Blue Max in my head.

Other Synapse titles include:
Survivor
Necromancer
Quasimodo
Fort Apocalypse
Sentinel
Zeppelin
Zaxxon

Survivor is very addictive. It's a multidirectional shooter. sort of reminds me of Bosconian in that sense. Check out this site for some Synapse screenshots and reviews.
