Journey back with long-time journalist Leonard Herman to the days when the newest game releases were mere whispers and shadows, mock-ups and promises in just a handful of game magazines. Leonard shares true stories from the heyday of trade shows including galleries of many long lost press releases, catalogs, and flyers.

This quarterly feature column debuts today. Feedback is welcome!

Sweet, I am going to check it out right now. Hopefully there might be some things about the NES or SNES in there.

Quarterly! :(

Anyway, as expected, it's a great read that really evokes the emotions of your experience. I can't wait to read some more. The gallery is very nice too.... I really want an Androwagon now.

Neat start to a neat feature! I can't wait to read about some of the press kits in his future articles!

Always good to see that Herman is still writing about games. I have fond memories of pouring through his book a decade ago; and, hey, it was self-published, which is always good.

I'll look forward to more of his writings.

I have fond memories of Herman's book too. Compiling something like that must have been an insanely difficult task, especially considering gaming information wasn't widespread across the internet back then.

Great column, I look forward to future issues. With this column and the new Ralph Baer book, it looks like 2005 is going to be the year of Leonard Herman. 8-)

Thank you all for the posiitive feedback.

Nice article, Len! One question - why didn't you bring (or smuggle in) a CAMERA with you back then? :eek 2:

I know I a definitely brought a camera to the 83 Summer CES. Now all I have to do is find those photos.

Len's column updates today with new material reminiscing Toy Fairs of old. As always, Len's historic accounts are meshed with rare scans of catalogs and other documents from the past. It's not only fun to read, but fun to look at. Check it out!
