Also, I think that Pirates Gold! and MUSHA are gems for the Genesis, as well as the Shining Forces. John Madden Championship Edition is not expensive, but it's damn rare, especially with the case. Also, Crusader of Centy and Toejam & Earl.

Anything with the name "Lightspan" on it in the Playstation category- Not one of their games are common. Also keep looking for Panda games (Atari 2600) Most of them are R7s.

Not to be a jerk, or anything, but most of the stuff listed so far is just "rare" and/ or expensive....not really "grail" status.
IMO, of course.
My definition of a "holy grail" is something that you may or may not come across in your lifetime. The Atari 2600 games listed are good examples. Sonic Jam and Radiant Silvergun are not.

Try these:
The Ooze, Comix Zone, Virtual Bart, Pengo...all go for at least $150 when they pop up. You can find all the ones you posted any day of the week on Yahoo. Other impossible to find ones include FIFA Soccer, Flashback, Chuck Rock II...hell, just about any western-developed MD game. =P
Maximum Carnage can actually go for over $500...
Then there's Tetris... ;)

I'd say the first 4 plus Heim Waltz are pretty grail-ish, of course the Navi Saturn being the most. Trader 2 in Akihabara has had Delisoba, Waltz, and Eyeful Home all for over a year. I have 6 out of the remaining 8, so I wouldn't call them grails... just expensive. I'd say SF0 3 and Crows are the hardest to find, even though not the most expensive.
Gameware collection-$75
I think I'm missing something. The only thing by this name I've seen runs like $3
Dragon force-$80

probably why the sets go for so much... all the sellers were from US that sold em, and yea, buying them from japan would cost a fortune, but people on ebay are willing to pay the same fees in the auction price rather than in shipping, plus its all there, and it makes it look like a trilogy, and people are suckers for that

I've only seen pieces here and there... nonetheless, they sell for mere sheckles (or did last time I saw them). I'd be much more interested in an entire run of FLash Sega Saturn.
As for Comix Zone: I'm not too much of a MegaDrive man... sorry for the confusion (and thanks for the clarrification). :)
In case anyone cares, I located a Delisoba Deluxe (http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~japangaming/bonus_info.php?type=promo&b=delisobadeluxe) for a gentlemen last year. It ran 65,000 yen roughly.
EDIT:
The Baroque Data Disc (http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~japangaming/bonus_info.php?type=promo&b=baroquedatadisc) is pretty rare... only runs like $30-$40, but a nice promo. Devil Summoner Extra Dungeons is also a pricey little bastard... I learned later though that the extra dungeons are on the PSX version. :/ Since nobody mentioned DC, Famitsu What's Shenmue (http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~japangaming/bonus_info.php?type=promo&b=whatsshenmuefamitsu) is pretty rare.

Yup. It also has an American manual (Genesis logo and all) plus a little booklet which I assume is a translation of the manual. One of the only MD/J games without the MD logo on the spine, The Ooze is another...

As Gaijinpunch said, the Saturn Game Ware titles are 100 yen titles at best in Japan (although it can be difficult to find #4 at times). Anyone paying $100 for a set of the 5 Game Ware titles either doesn't know their prices very well or they are very desperate.
It is indeed much more difficult and expensive to find a complete set of Flash Sega Saturn demos, especially as there are 33 discs in total. Glad I held onto mine (http://videogamecollectors.com/gallery/Nomeaz1/Flash_Sega_Saturn_Demos?full=1) :-P ...

I recided to go back over my Megadrive list today, and found another rare-as-all-get-out Megadrive game: Nikken Sports Pro Yakyuu VAN.
For the longest time, I didn't even believe this existed, but earlier today I found a product code (G-4522) and a photo (here (http://www.hi-net.zaq.ne.jp/cielo/md287.htm)). I've never seen it on any MD games list, and it isn't in the DP guide, either. One of the few Google results is an ancient Yahoo auction, but I've never seen it for sale there myself. Probably half the reason it's so rare is that it's useless as a game now -- it requires the Mega Modem, as it seems to be an online Baseball game with no single-player mode.
Also, WWF RAW is another Japanese MD game in PAL packaging. Odd that Virtual Bart got a real box and manual, but the other two Acclaim releases at the same time didn't...

Very, very nice! If for some reason you ever get trigger happy w/ the scanner, and don't mind listing the contents of each, I'm missing like... 25 of them to put up at Japanese gaming. surely the term "holy grail" means unique, or a rumour of something beleived to exist but has yet to be proven..
otherwise this thread should have been called "most desireable game for each system"..
"Get yor grails here, wolfs nipple chips, get em while theyre hot"..
the OP said Grail, so IMO thats Protos etc..
can we have this cleared up before I post my HG or my most desired

I would say that the holy grail for PSX is the Elemental Gearbolt Assasin's Case Edition given out at E3 '98 (as we seem to be counting SNES and NES tourney carts).
Does anyone here have a copy of this tasty piece of workind designs shooter goodness? If so, can you please post a pic of it? I can't find a pic for the life of me.....
It's in the DP rarity guide @ $200, but I'm sure it'd sell for way more than that in reality. Includes briefcase, gold guncon, and gold memory card.
