Earlier this month I rented WCP for the PS2. In fact, I reviewed it for the DP Wire (Digital Press' e-newsletter), and gave it an overall good review.

(Two quick notes -- one, I've reposted the review here (http://www.robohara.com/reviews/games/index.php?file=worldchampionshippoker), and two, if you haven't, sign up for the DP Wire today!)

I decided I liked the product enough to buy it, and so today I did. I get the game home, fire it up, and decide to head straight to the online games. Instead of connecting online, I get a DNAS error 402. Don't bother, I've already looked it up. What it basically means is, "you have a modchip".

And it's right, I do have a modchip -- but I also have a legally purchased copy of their game, which doesn't work online now. There is a way to disable my modchip, but when I do that the game barely runs or locks up (again, we're talking a brand new original game).

I didn't know anything about circumventing Sony's DNAS system (their online protection) an hour ago, but with Google I was able to find everything I need to know about how to crack it, copy it, and play my burned copy online.

So now I'll be playing my burned, cracked backup online, while my original won't work. Herm. Something's wrong here.

that's pretty sad that you had to go to those lengths to get it to work, but at least you got your brand new game to work (sorta)
