I found some Sony CR2032 VMU batteries for 20 cents if you buy them in a lot of 1000. We could pitch in and break it up into equal parts. Theyre on the east coast and Im on the west coast so it would be best for someone from middle America to be the one to order. The initial shipping should be pretty low, theyre small and light. I'll throw in $20 + $5 shipping. With 10 people, thats 25 cents per battery. Not bad! Here's the link.

So who has $25 for 100 quality VMU batteries?

That's actually wholesale price, so it's not a bad deal. I may be able to go through my own personal wholesaler and get the same batteries for .20 each with no minimum to buy. Need to look in on that

Aren't those batteries good for PC motherboards as well?

I think so. They're used in everything. VMUs, NGPCs, Saturns, watches, etc. etc.

Thats what we need. Good reasons for eveybody to buy. I had assumed there would be more DC users who dont want to pay $2 per battery but whatever...my offer stands. 8-)

i dont really need 100's of batteries....if i could get like 10 or 20 and pay 0.20 a piece for them + shipping i would be in
so, if anyone gets wholesale with no limit or wants to go in on this with you but doesnt need them all i would be happy to buy like $5 worth the batteries + shipping

I'd say "worst case scenerio" but Ive heard better & worse stories than this:
1 controller
2 batteries at a time
Lifetime = 2 months
2 batteries = 2 months
12 batteries per year for 1 controller
Walmart value $3 per battery= $36 per year for 1 controller
Walmart value $3 per battery= $64 per year for 2 controllers
This value $0.25 per battery= $3 per year for 1 controller
This value $0.25 per battery= $6 per year for 2 controllers
Its a good deal...unless Im drunker than I thought...

A pity their pricing on 1/2 AA batteries isn't as nice. (Those are used on CPS2 boards and some old Macintoshes.)

A slightly more expensive, but less overwhelming alternative is Digikey:

.38/each starting
10/.338
200/.300
600/.225

Guys, I remember buying 30 or so of them on ebay like two years ago for...5 or 10 dollars, something like that. I still have half of them, and I use them for VMus, satrn mainboards, PC mobos, ect. I don't feed the VMUs constantly though or else i'd probably be through them already.

The CR2032 is also used for battery-backed games. I'm sure that we all have more than a few cartridges with "they should be dead" batteries inside.

Yes, these batteries are good for everything. I know that they are used on motherboards, Saturn and Dreamcast internals, VMUs, and a whole bunch of other places. I replaced my car's automatic door opener thing with one recently.
If you want a bunch, this is the best deal you can get. I bought a bunch for a similar price a while ago to stock at the GOAT Store because I was sick of paying $2.00+ to replace my VMU batteries, and if I didn't still have about 80 of those left, I would be right in line to buy another 250.
Great deal, great price.
