What are some of those "Awesome" games that get 10 out of 10 rateings but YOU think they blow ass.

Personally I hate Earthbound and Metal Gear Solid 2.

So let's have it, which "good" games SUCK?

Well, it's not that they suck, but I can't stand first-person shooters. 5 minutes with one of those and I'm ready to retch from motion sickness with a headache that lasts the rest of the day. All of the slam-jammin' FPS games out there - Quake, Unreal, Doom, Timesplitters, you name it - I have not been able to play without waves of naseua. Man, does it blow that I can't even WATCH any of these supposedly grand games.

*Sigh*

For some reason I've always hated Tomb Raider. And i think once you play one Resident Evil...you've played them all, and i don't like it.

I can't stand Earthbound either, even though I love RPGs in general.

The new Rygar. I don't see what is so beautifull and what is so fun. The first boss looks cool, but it sucks to fight. THe player doen't look cool and plays like a turd. I am only about 1/3rd the way through and I am going to play it to the end, but so far I don't see what everyone else is seeing.

I for one have never liked Space Channel 5, though it isn't the gameplay that nauseates me so much as it's the atmosphere. I can't stand the garish, candy-bright colors, the kitschy soundtrack, or the chirpy and cloying sexaroid that is Ulala. And any game that has a character named "Pudding" is just asking for my enmity.

I'm not a fan of 3D adventure games like Tomb Raider or the Resident Evils (but I do like the stories and characters and art, it's the gameplay I can't stand. I always miss those friggin' jumps!). I've grown to at least appreciate FPS (on the PC! No console FPS!) and Starcraft, and I'm pretty good in both now. When in Rome...

I HATE WARCRAFT III!!!!!! I can't stress this enough! Maybe the story mode is good, but the gameplay and multiplayer just SUCK! I think this game is a MAJOR step backwards for Blizzard! I'd rather play Warcraft I than III! At least the gameplay was better. I HATE the graphics! The transition from 2D isometric to 3D is usually hyped in a lot of games, and I can't say there is much improvement, if not a worsening in graphics. I'd rather have the pixel people of Warcraft I and II than the polygonial block people of III! And, what's with the friggin' camera? The zooming in and out makes the map seem so small. The effect is to show a rotating world, and does this, but it makes the whole world seem very small, like the maps are wrapped around a person's fist. The game has an overly simplified economy, so why have it at all? Why not just have one or two little robots/peons gathering the one resource like in Red Alert? This makes for a very dumb game. So, the game focuses on combat. Not strategy, though. The only viable strategy in this game is to have a really strong hero that no one can kill. That's it. Blizzard SAYS you don't even need heroes, that heroes are part of the strategy. This is completely FALSE. You need that damned hero, and THAT IS YOUR STRATEGY. There is no other way to win besides that. I'd like to hear a strategy from someone that doesn't use the hero at all, or at least only as suplementary. Please, I'm begging you! Finally, where is the WAR in Warcraft III? The largest army sizes you get, competitively, are about 25 or less. The game should be called SKIRMISHCraft. No grand battles, just cute little tiny skirmishes. Less troops means less troop diversity and battle maneuvering, which over simplifies combat and, again, makes a dumb game. Though my friends got me into FPS and Starcraft, no amount of pressure has made me even remotely want to play this piece of garbage. I was never really a fan of Blizzard to begin with, but I still acquired the Diablo series, Starcraft, and the previous Warcrafts. These games, at least, had some redeeming qualities, and were actually enjoyable with the right people and circumstances. Blizzard, I have lost hope. I have lost hope, utterly and completely. And how late was Warcraft III? A couple of YEARS?! The worst part is that Warcraft III will set off gaming trends, especially in RTS games for years to come. The trend is set, and Warcraft III was a hit. I can see aspects now already in Age of Mythology. Though I love the Age of series, I may have to abandon this love, the Age of series, as many other RTS gamers I have spoken to already have because of Age of Mythology. I gave Age of Mythology a good chance, and I like the game, but I can still see and sense the corruption. I guess that is the longe term negative grip I have about Warcraft III: it killed real time strategy games for me now, and, through it's influence, kill my love for the RTS genre forever.

Super Mario Sunshine. You've read my posts, I ain't goin' over it again. It hurts too much.

GTA 3: After the initial adrenaline rush of mowing down pedestrians and seeing how high I could get my wanted level, it was kinda boring. Story was cool, but not enough for me to finish the game. GTA Vice is the same way except now with 80's theme and motorcyle. Ya. Hoo. Again, doing insane jumps and mowing down 80's pedestrians in a warm climate only goes so far in the fun factor.

I hate, hate, HATE first-person shooters. I'm sorry, but I really don't want to grow fifteen extra fingers in order to play a freakin' game on my laptop, k? Even the ones on the consoles drive me nuts. I don't get ill or anything like Snider, but I do get disoriented and keep running around in circles. Strangely enough, I have no problem with 3D platformers like Tomb Raider and Banjo-Kazooie, even though they're basically the same thing but with a different viewpoint.

I also hate games where I have to flip through eighty-five menus in the middle of combat. Take Fear Effect, for example. I'm getting my ass kicked and I have to keep hitting the button in order to scroll through my inventory for a new weapon, and I ALWAYS end up passing it up because I hit the button too quickly. Maybe I just suck, I don't know.

Metal Gear Solid - Ok, I DO suck because for the life of me I just could not get past the first screen. Seriously. I loved the NES games and the fact that I couldn't get anywhere was quite disappointing and extremely embarrassing.

Earthbound, Tomb Raider, MechWarrior, Space Ace & Dragon's Lair, Goldeneye.

Also, even though I am a giant squaresoft fanboy, I hated Final Fantasy 7, but since the majority of people on these boards bow down to it like it's some gift from God, we won't get back into why I feel it's the worst of the series. And I also hated Xenogears (another one I don't want to get into). There are probably more, but those are all the ones that fly immediately to mind.

I f'n HATE Resident Evil! "Survival horror" my ass.....its just a funky action game with clunky controls. Oh yeh, there's a real sense of fright when you're being chased by zombies moving at 2 minles per hour and youre armed to the death. Gimme Silent Hill or Clocktower anyday (Scissorman rules!).

First Person Shooters and sports games.

I just don't understand why Madden needs to be recreated year after year. The same people buy it and bitch when the previous year is only worth a $3 TIC.

I intensely dislike Resident Evil and its subsequent sequels, clones, etc. I just don't like the horror genre in general. I also REALLY don't like 8-bit RPGs. Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, etc. BORING BORING BORING!!!

Metal Gear Solid (that "trick" while fighting Psycho Mantis w/ the 2nd controller really was stupid & unfair to me)

Resident Evil 2

Most RPGs w/ turn-based combat. Give me real-time fighting any day!

The recent glut of games requiring stealth to advance in the game.

Almost any Nintendo title: Mario, Zelda, PokeMon, etc etc etc. STOP!!!

And, as always, Crusaders of Might & Magic from the 3DO cauldron o' crap.

Let me first insert a "ditto" on this one. It's like getting car sick, in fast forward. Five minutes, and you're down.

That said.. I NEVER liked any of the previous Resident Evil stories. But I'm really getting into RE0 on the GameCube.

Another game I can't stand: State of Emergency. Let's go kill some cops... For fun! Who is this marketed to, anyway?

Seems like such an odd topic for video game lovers to me. I can't really think of anything I *hate* - it's just that some games would score lower on my 1-10 scale than others.

I did hate the control schemes of Resident Evil and Tomb Raider on PSX. It's like they made them that way to make them artificially harder and longer. Artificial length and difficulty stinks.

And I hated the camera on Mario Sunshine. Loved the game despite it though (I found it damn addictive getting those shines). I hate it mostly because I know that Nintendo can do better than that.

BTW: I too get naseous playing FPSs (but I make sacrafices for the GoldenEyes of the world). FPSs would be my least favourite genre. Or maybe strategy games.

I dunno, for some reason I liked SoE. I normally hate games in this genre (I can't stand GTA), but SoE was funa nd let me blow off some steam. I guess I didn't mind killing all the people because they were portrayed as evil and most of the violence was comical (as compared to GTA 3's scary violence).

Personally I don't like all those millitary shooters like Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six.

I didn't mind FPS's at first.. but now they just seem so prevalent. If I see another game who's graphics consists of a gun pointing into the screen while you walk around hallways and buildings shooting people/aliens/things it won't be too soon.

Resident Evil.. with so many accolades from supposed "gamers" you'd think this game wouldn't suck as much as I think it does.

Tony Hawk.. I guess this game is supposedly good and I've TRIED giving it a chance many a time. But I just don't see the attraction (even if I COULD pull off the fancier tricks) :P But to me, alls you do is push some skater around.. woot. -_-

I can see the arguement with the RE games control system ruining the game for someone, but Tomb Raider? I think that's pretty basic, push forward, she runs forward, push right, she turns right, press jump, she jumps. I don't see why that's confusing or complicated. I've always enjoyed the TR games. I guess that's the opposite of this topic though, that admission belongs in "games everyone hates...but I love."

I can't stand Gran Turismo. I just don't care enough to get past even the license tests. It looks great, but I can't buy it.

@genesisnes: Not if you were playing them for the story (like me)! MGS2's storyline pales in comparison to the greatness of the Metal Gear Solid story. On the other hand, I'll whole heartedly agree with you as far as gameplay goes.

Any First person shooters, most 3d platformers, almost all sports games and most racing games.

How could anyone hate Earthbound?! I've heard of people who dis the graphics, but come on! Anyone who has played 3 hours into it would be hooked. Anyone who has beaten it is hooked for life. That game is so whacked out (in a funny, witty, creative way)!

Earthbound haters?!! I'm surprised as hell there's so many...that's just the weirdest thing I ever heard...

There are certain games I don't like, but I understand the appeal of. I could never get into the Sonics, the Zeldas, and the Final Fantasies. I can at least understand why others like them though.

Then there are the games I just don't get. I would separate them into three categories:

1- Wrestling games. They seem to be worse now than they ever were. There's just NO GAME. Mash buttons while the generic music plays. They haven't changed since PSX War Zone.

2- Light gun games. Yeah Virtua Cop 1 and 2 were alright. Do we still need more of these?

3- Character X in...Tomb Raider, where they just take any old character and stick him/her in a Tomb Raider game. See Indiana Jones, Batman, and Buffy for examples.

I hate:

Golden Sun, because it's as boring as hell.

Both the Resident Evil series and the Tomb Raider series, because of their bad controls.

Legend of Dragoon, because of the tedious battle system.

As for Final Fantasy 8, ugh...

I gave Earthbound a try too, and I just don't like it. And it has nothing to do with the graphics (that's not an element that counts for me as far as a game's quality is concerned). I just don't see the point of playing it. Yet, I do like all the Zeldas (a little bit less where Link's Awakening is concerned) and the Final Fantasies. I guess the storyline just doesn't flow with me, that's all.

It's like asking me why i don't like olives. I don't know the reason why.

I tried, but I couldn't like FFX. I didn't think the turn based fighting was fun, and I just can't handle all the made up spells. If it's not Ultima, D&D or ENGRISH GODDAMMIT I don't have time to learn a new language of spells and spirit chants or what the f&$% ever.

JC, AA, you didn't like Halo! Sacrilage! Do you play FPS's at all? If you do, there is no reason not to like it.

I've never seen smarter enemies short of real live humans- and the only reason they're hard to kill is because of the jump command. Which I think should be removed for some deathmatches. Jumping around is boring.

FF10: The spells are the same as all the previous Fantasies. If you know how to play FF6/7/8/9 then FF10 should not be a problem?

Motion Sickness: I have the same problem. I use a tiny TV and sit as far as possible from the screen to prevent it from happening.

GAMES I HATE: Goldeneye. I find it boring. A much superior game is Turok2 with its creepy, jump-out-of-your-seat atmosphere.

Fighting Games. I don't see what's fun about repetiviely beating up people?

Well, um, cops are portrayed as "evil" in the real world, too. Have you ever seen the news, and the anchor says, "Cops shot and killed a teenager today..." when, in fact, the "teenager" is 19, and the "teenager" robbed an old woman, has a rap sheet a mile long and was shooting at the police first?
