View Full Version : A glitch that makes a game better??

Here's a rarity. If anyone out there owns Tiger Woods on the DS, then you know how freaking ridiculous the Emerald Dragon 2-day tourney is on Pro. It's almost impossible since the game was rushed and your player stats aren't up to par by this point. After literally weeks of trying after getting if for Christmas, I gave up on the game.

Now, thanks to the cheat section on Gamefaqs I looked at a few days back, they revealed a glitch that actually allows you to skip any tournaments. Get to the 18th hole, save, and voila'. Stage cleared as is the next challenege too. Why not? It's given the game new life for me and allowed me to continue with the game. Can't say I've ever found a glitch that made me enjoy a game again after giving it up. Thank you rushed developers, I think.

The Matrix is a very buggy game.
I was stuck on this level( havent played in a while) where you have to get up to a catwalk with a bunch of people shooting down at you. I kept dying over and over. Suddenly the dudes just froze- or began to spazzout and twitch. I ran through the level without another shot. 8-)

Pokemon Red/Blue on GameBoy...the duplicate item trick

To get WELL 99 of an item, put the item you want duplicated in the sixth item slot. Make sure you have the Fly HM, then Fly to Viridian City. Talk to the old man that stopped you in the begining of the game( kind of to the north) When he asks if you are in a hurry, say no and watch him catch a weedle.

Then Fly to Cinnabar Island, and use the SURF HM. Surf along the right COAST, Not in the water, if you surf in the water it won't work.

Now, use SURF until you run into a Pokemon called ''M'', ''Missingno.'', Or a Pokemon over level 100 Once you see one of those, kill it or just simply run away. DON'T CATCH THE M OR MISSINGNO. AS IT WILL RUIN YOUR GAME!!!

When fighting a high level M if you have a slow pokemon and it attacks you are screwed, as it has a VERY high attack, you can beat him by simply using a quick attack.

after you win/run look at your sixth item it should look VERY weird with wird symbols and such, don't worry all it means is you have over 99 once you use it up alot it will stop using symbols and once the supply gets back to 99 it will show up as ''99''

There are people on Halo 2 who do nothign but expose cool glitches in the game and then they practice them together without ever firing a shot.

i would say the unlimited grenade glitch in Resident Evil for the GameCube. not that the game is that hard, but this made it more fun in my book. Just the fact of blowing the crap out of everything with one shot including the pain in the ass Crimson Heads.

This is one of the best glitches to ever exist in a game, and gives high replay value to the game too. It does screw up the Elite Four stats but that part didn't really care to me much.

Oh yeah, plus the catch lvl100 pokemon trick got me a bunch of Mewtwos @_@ @_@ @_@ @_@

I sometimes use the item glitch in Castlevania: LoI on the harder bosses...anyone else here know of it?

I recall in Blaster Master, one of the bosses could be defeated by throwing a grenade, then pausing. If you did that right, the bomb would continually take off energy, then once unpaused, the boss would die.

Remember that? HA!

In Mario Kart 64, in the beginning of Wario Stadium I think it was called, the dirt track, where you could time it right and jump over the wall to the other side using the jump button right as you were hitting the wall.

Our races would come down too who could jump the wall in the least amount of tries. It was a hell of a shortcut. You could like mess up 5 times and would still be ahead of everyone else.

That is the first thing that came to mind when I read the title. The famous pause trick on the rock monster in Mega Man. The rock monster is pretty damn hard, but he is easy as all hell with the lightning gun.

The Minus World in SMB made the game more interesting. Albeit it didn't do anything to help you, it just made the game cooler having such a hidden "accident" to show off with.

How do I get into the minus level? IIRC it's called -1\1 isn't it? Anyhow can I get a how to plz?

Also how the hell do you use a lightgun in Megaman? And if so what megaman games and how does the pause trick work?? I have megaman 1 - 6 on NES and 7,x,x2,x3,rockman & forte on super nintendo\SFC. So all the help the better as I have beat these games but some funny tricks would put some life back into them for me.

The Castlevania Lament Of Innocence duping trick is SO handy.

In Mario Kart 64 there is a massive bug in DK's Jungle racetrack. You can do an entire lap in just a few seconds. There's a section of wall just before the start area that is "hollow" and it allows you to bypass the entire track on your second and third laps.

Just a heads up. The new Champions Return To Arms has a very nasty random bug in it once you enter the underwater realm. (it happened to me)There is a shard that is supposed to drop after an event and many people are reporting that the event happens but you don't get the drop. You can't progress any further without the item. Be sure to save often since the only way to get past this is to reboot and try all over again. I got lucky and my second attempt was bug-free.

My favorite glitch was for San Fransico Rush, the floating car trick.

You turn on the cheat were if you aborted youd end up in the same spot. Then Play a game as normal go any were you want stop hold the brak button and abort. Now your floating in air! You can do this as many times as you want and get even more air. It makes the flying keys eaiser to nab.

I can prove that the duplication cheat is actually worse for your save then catching missingno is.

My favorite glitch has to be the multi-fire trick in Space Invaders for the Atari 2600. Simply hold down the reset button as you turn on the system, and waste the aliens in half the time. 8-)

I never done it myself, but from what I have heard your supposed to jump up into the warpzone in level 1-2 without using those orange bars. I think you do it by breaking some blocks before going into the pipe at the end and just maneuvering right to be able to get up there.

Omega Race on Vic 20 is better than the near identical C64 version because of the little things you can do like mid-air stops and a few other little things that were probably considered glitches in the Vic version.

I don't know if this was exclusive to my game or if everybody had this happen but when I got Dragon Warrior 1 on nes I saved my game one day and the next time I played my save was gone but I had a guy with a name like "77'5'fd""" who was a badass and it was saved near the end of the game. I was only 7-8 at the time so this made it easier to beat the game. I am suprised nobody mentioned the FF2 item duplicate trick which I didn't learn about until many years after I beat it.

Ok, to get to the Minus World:
At the very end of level 1-2, stand on top of the pipe that you would normally go through to be brought up to the overworld. Then break the second brick, but you MUST leave the brick that is on the far right. Stay on top of the pipe and go to the far left of it. Then duck and jump straight up and hold right (it might take a few trys). After doing it maybe 15 times you should get it. After you go through the wall go down the first pipe, it will take you to the Minus World.

The Lightning trick in Megaman is used to shooting the Rock Monster in the eye and then pressing select (which pauses the game) over and over. Everytime you pause and unpause the game the Rock Monster takes a hit.
Capcom realized this was possible, and took it out of all the other MegaMan games, so the Pause trick is only on MegaMan 1.

There was once a really cool Dreamcast racing game called Metropolis Street Racer with a really, really, really bad system for progressing through the game. Instead of awarding you points for coming in 1st and simply letting you compete in the next event, you could only progress by getting "Kudos" points during races by doing goofy little stunts and power sliding a lot.

So what you do is find an open section of track in one of the earlier races, and just do donuts and power slide all over the place. You will have to do this repeatedly to unlock races, but it's easier than coming in first place AND earning a lot of kudos points in the newest race.

I doubt the designers intended for anyone to progress through the game like this, so I'll call this a glitch. Without doing this the game is pretty much unplayable.

Stunts is a great buggy game (old DOS release). Sending your car fifty feet into the air by crashing into the ramp is a great thrill, especially when you can use the track editor to set up some glitch-filled replays LOL . I wiled away quite a bit of computer lab time last year with my friends and this game.

In "Razor Rendezvous" in Rogue Leader, your mission is to take out the shields of a Star Destroyer before finishing it off by destroying the command deck. You can slam your ship into the command deck to accomplish this. Normally crashing into a ship would cause you to lose a life, but not in this case as the mission ends successfully. IMHO this makes the game better since I think it's more fun to do this than to simply shoot at it.

I don't know if it's a glitch or just a side effect of the way the game works. Maybe whatever signals the end of the mission registers before the signal that you have lost a life.

I remember Metropolis Street Racer, wow that game was hard! And dumb. If you placed first and got 100 points and then raced it again and only got 70 points, you'd lose those other30 points. That was horrible.

I have a replay saved of a cool glitch in SSX Tricky (gamecube). On one of the races (as opposed to freestyle), I end up falling through the ground and into the middle of nowhere. I was getting ready to hit my reset and put my guy back on the ground, when I noticed that I was advancing in rank. 5/6, 4/6, 3/6, 2/6...1/6...and I let it go for awhile until I thought I was close to the end.
What happened (I believe) was that the game was interpreting my position in vertical space as related to the track. In other words, the track goes downhill, and my character fell down through a "hole" in the ground. As my "altitude" got lower than that of the computer players, I outranked them. I suppose if I let it go too long, it would have crashed or frozen up, as I would have fallen past the minimum altitude of the finish line. As I turned out, I reset my guy with about 20 seconds of track remaining. The game just placed me at the corresponding ection of track for my given altitude.

It was cool as hell.

Driver 2. You can fall through the road in Chicago. I forget how to trigger it, But it works with computer controlled cars aswell. It is very funny, since the shadows of the cars remain after they fall through the cement.

The hidden parts of NES metroid are certainly an interesting glitch that adds some replay value and is just plain fun. To go around to places of the game you were nver meant to... I just wish it wasn't so hard to pull off. I've only done it a few times succesfully.

Lots of 'em, but my favorite is the "combo move through locked doors" trick in Phantasy Star Online (original Dreamcast version). It made direct trips to the level bosses much easier in online multi-player mode, and of course the boss battles were usually the best way to level up and get nice items.

Wait! How do you do that?!

Have to agree it was rather fun... even more daft thing is I discovered it myself by accident before it got "publicised", so evidently a fair few people came across it whilst playing.

You'll need the grenade launcher and at least two types of ammo for it. The cheat works to duplicate one type of ammo (reference by "wanted ammo" in the commands below).

Put all items in item box
Move Grenade Launcher to upper-left item slot on character
Move wanted ammo to upper-right item slot on character
Close box
Open inventory
Equip Grenade Launcher
Open box
Select wanted ammo from inventory
Press A twice
Move cursor to wanted ammo inside item box
Press A twice

The number of rounds inside the grenade launcher should now start going up. I believe that to be the right method for making it work, it's been a long while since I did it!

Not realy OT but I had a legend of zelda cart glitch on me once.

I put the cart in and turned it on and it gave me everything at the begining of the game. When I saved and went back it was gone.

I think it's possible to permanently screw up the cart if you mess with that too much. o_O

Another helpul duplicate item trick is in Final Fantasy 7 with the W-Item materia. Getting a gold chocobo was tedious enough just doing all the races and such, so without that glitch to get 99 of the stuff to feed them, I probably would've gone insane.
