I have yet to hold a PSP, but the DS doesn't have a sinlge vent on it. I'm sure it must get pretty hot with everything compacted inside. Isn't there potential for overheating here??

I know, which is what I can't figure out. I mean, all those 3-D cards in PC's need tons of fans to keep them going. Why not these portables? Why don't they get hot?

the components in portables are not as complicated as the ones in a p.c , all they need is a simple heatsink to do the job.

well to answer your question: they roll around in the mud to cool themselves off. once the mud is dry they repeat this process

I have played a PSP and it can get hot(warm), although i think that it has alot to do with its large screen

It has nothing to do with the screen and everything to do with the UMD drive. The UMD drive spinning and the laser in use are what will warm up the PSP. Fortunately, the battery life is so short that you'll barely notice this before it needs a recharge :P
