Nuditiy in a Dreamcast game? Suprised me.

I was just playing good ol' D2 for my DC and was kind of shocked when just a little ways into the second disk there was a pair of exposed breasts. Normally today i wouldn't have thought anything off it, but i didn't realize we had nudity in mainstream console games back then. I'm kind of curious to know when the console makers started letting people have this kind of freedom with their games. I mean violence has been growing in video games since the early 90s and i know nudity hasn't been anything big on the PC since the dawn of time, but i always use to think that consoles, at least in North America, "protected" (and i use the word as sarcastically as possible) people from things like nudity. Don't get me wrong, i'm glad we have the freedom to include it in games today simply from an artistic or gameplay stand point (picture Playboy: The Mansion with no nudity. I mean that's just morally wrong) but i'd really like to know when it started.

So does anyone know of any other console games that included Nudity prior to the current generation? Any idea which was first? Oh and i'm thinking mainstream titles not pirates. Perferably from the North american region since the the most oppresive when it comes to that kind of content.

i think that d2 had the mature esrb rating? i have it liying somewhere. Actually it was jus the liberty of doing so. Just because a movie has a pair of boobs doesn't turn it into a XXX film. Just look at eurotrip, apple pie, and the such.

Well, I remember when D2 first came out, I was totally surprised by the boobage. I did not see that one coming. Especially back in 2000, I mean back then nudity was not looked upon as 'acceptable' in games.

Still really isn't 'acceptable' today either really.

2600 had a bunch of adult games as did the NES. Plenty of nudity, though boobs composed of 6 pixels doesn't do much for me. 3DO has a bunch of adult stuff too. You don't even want to start with imports. Those Japanese are nuts.

I think The Space Adventure: Cobra The legendary Bandit on Sega CD had something close. It had that stripclub where the alien dancer is basically topless except for the gold tips.
Duke Nukem 3D for Saturn still had strippers who would flash you, showing off their tassles.
Dead or Alive 2 for Dreamcast had that code that you had to enter in Time Attack ranking to get the opening to show a naked Kasumi during the cloning process.

What's wrong with saying back then?? I say back then all the time. Look the Dreamcast was in a different time then we're in now so it counts as back then.It would've been worse if i had said back in the day.

Stormlord for the genesis had a bunch of nude statues in it. As did Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the Playstation.

The first Metal Gear Solid has some pixelated nasty bits when Meryl beats up a guard and takes his clothes. I always wondered if the Japanese version full-on showed it. You can get pretty close there with first person view.

In MGS2, Raiden wakes up naked and you have to play through a portion of the game with no clothes, but he cleverly covers himself with one hand or there's a clever prop blocking his genitals in almost every shot. However, when he jumps, I think you can see his scrotum. It's hard to tell, though.

D2 is awesome, and the CG boobies are really nothing special. In fact, I think they're attached to one of the alien/people hybrids who have no head. (it's been awhile, so I could be wrong).

The probably with D2 is the lame narration, and you can't skip it. If you can get over that, D2 is amazing. Walking around in the snow at night while hunting for deer is one of the cooler experiences I've had in gaming. And sometimes the game is really funny (anybody who's beat the flight-attendant boss will know that.)

Give it another shot. It really is worth it. Just play it where your girlfriend can't hear it, 'cuz the voice acting is major lame.

heh... if you think a pair of boobs is a shocker, wait 'til you have to fight a certain boss that looks like a pair of legs spread apart, complete with gasps and moans as you shoot it. D2 is just plain awesome LOL. severely underrated game, i have to say. surem the us dub stinks, but once you get to the end, it's quite thought provoking. if you watch the credits, you'll see hideo kojima mentioned as an inspiration, and as the game borrows the presentation of some of it's preachier segments on the state of the world from metal gear solid, one can see why...

and, yup, parasite eve had boobs as well, although they looked like two big bald heads on eve's chest LOL

Stormlord was censored for the Genesis release ever so slightly just by making the pixel color of the nipples match the color of the statue. And the little naked fairies had a minor color change as well. If you look at the PC version you can see the difference.

Go grab an SMS copy of the Miracle Warriors manual and check out the picture of the Dark Lord. She is a well endowed naked demon. Ok so she is green when you see her in the game but "much" more endowed shall we say :)

I don't want to get into it for the CG boobies ;), but it was a game I had been anticipating and stuck in and after about an hour of not having any clue what I was doing, I gave up.

It always seemed interesting, but I think it would take forever for me to get that far in the game!

To anyone on here who's been wondering is d2 is worth a play thru i say hell yes. WHile it doesn't have the exact same style as D (i bought before it's awsomeness) it does have some of the feel of the original and it's not a bad game. THe story is just as cheesey and it is a fairly long game, but it's worth a shot. I myself am only just on the second disc, but i really did enjoy the first disc. At least after i figured out what to do right at the very start. The games fun, got a reasonably good amount of story and violence, and above all else the games it's self is kind of unique. Inside buildings is all a point and click rail system, like the original D or Myst. Outside is thrid person with survival horror type controls. And then any time you fight you stand on the spot and aim and shoot. It's a rich mix of all three styles and it makes for some interesting game play.

Although you never actually saw any sort on nudity, both of the Lunar games had several questionable scenes in they, most involving hot springs. Also, speaking of wet places ( ;) ), both Parasite Eve 2 and the Grand Steam Saga contain bath scenes.

Eriko's not totally naked in the US version. Someone had screenshots of each state of 'undress' and there's always some scraps of clothing covering up appropriate places.

And you can't play Kasumi naked in DOA 2/LE/RE. You have to use a Gameshark code and even then you can't even control her. There may have been hacked saves/games in Japan but that qualifies less than using a Gameshark. You can't do any of it without resorting to external mods. The only legitimate part of DOA 2 is when they show Kasumi naked in the real intro.
