Has anyone else faced this dilemna?

I have my game collection on my website. My collection is stored in Microsoft Access, with an ASP front end. Every time I buy a game, I have to enter it into this program. (It should be noted that I have things other than games in this database; all my music albums and movies are in here as well.) I've considered converting this to MySQL in the near future, but that's not the point.

Now that I have a Palm Pilot, I have my list in it as well. My Palm Pilot reads Excel and Word documents, so I have copies of my lists in Excel format.

I'm also getting really excited about Digital Press' new online database.

Have any of you all run into this before? I really don't feel like updating three different lists everytime I buy a game -- first of all, I'm really anal about my lists all being perfect, and second of all I'm so forgetful that it's inevidable that within a month or two, all three lists will be different.

Sheesh...I thought it was bad just updating my Excel files and DP Guide at the same time. :)

Then again, the problem of having so many games that you have trouble keeping your databases straight is a pretty sweet problem to deal with. :P

One of the new features I'm considering adding to the lists soon (In addition to a comments field, a Loose, Compelete, Sealed, Other status field and some other fun is the ability to export the lists from the online guide to excel.

Also:

more WAP support.

Use your phone to check and update your lists from the road!

I own.

Flack, why are you using access on your pc and excel on your palm?

Why not just use the db on your palm? Or if you're not a fan of that, then just export the list periodical to excel format?

I've always been torn about the ability to export into excel / csv. On one hand it is useful...on the other it is a sure fire way of quickly having the totality of your site's work stolen. If I were the scurilous sort I could add all games in the DP lists to my collection..export...get the rarity codes...and quickly match them up to profiles in my own website. Sure everyone would flat out know I took the data, but as I am a fly by night website, who cares. :P

It seems like it would be a jewel of a way for some software company to quickly package a "collector" program and make a buck off the work of others.
