Yadda yadda yadda, Grandpa |tsr speaks of them here. (http://www.atarihq.com/tsr/odd/scans2/topps.html)

Legend of Zelda, Adventures of Link, Mario 1 & 2, Punchout and Double Dragon-

However, I vaguely recall scratch-off cards featuring Metroid and sticker sets that depicted Mario doing stupid things like kicking a soccer ball, etc. This was purchased way back in Canada of 89 or 90, I have the cards kicking around somewhere in an attic so I'm not too apt to dig them out, but I was wondering if there was a second set released, or perhaps a Canadian exclusive?

On another note, Topps was getting away with murder by selling 5 cards to a pack, weren't they?? Nintendo really was a huge brand back then.

BTW thanks for the 5 pack Sniderman. :D

I remember some of the cards had "tips" on the back of them. One said something to the effect of...
If you are big mario and in a tight spot, get hit and you will be invincible for a few seconds! It implied that you should get hit on purpoe. No thanks, I'll take my chances not getting hit first, then book it if I do. x_x

I've got some Nintendo scratch-off cards but they are not Topps, they are O-Pee-Chee (Canada). There were 60 cards in all and it was like a game: you had to (for example) find 3 KO's before you got hit 3 times by Von Kaiser from Punch-Out. I don't know if these were released in the US because every card says "Printed in Canada" on the back.

Maybe they were released in the U.S. O-Pee-Chee is actually a Topps brand based in Canada (something I learned back in my baseball card collecting days).

That's the total for the US set- 60 scratch off cards, 33 stickers. For the life of me though I can't find any reference of Metroid scratch off cards on the internet- and I know they exist.

This is the only reference to Metroid cards I've ever seen, this pic taken from port's collection website (specifically the http://schwillz.com/ccdebt/rare.html page, 56K WARNING FOR GOD'S SAKE)
