This store-a-collection thing is cool as hell, and kudos for setting it up, but having just started to use it, I noticed that for Gamecube games, there's only either US versions or "Non-US" which're German. What I'd suggest is a generic PAL setting for English releases (eg UK/Australia/New Zealand/etc).. one of the games I tried to pick.. 18 Wheeler? Can't remember.. anyway, it'd definitely be a good idea to add a generic PAL version as well.

I'm great at rambling, eh?

select the german release, those will be renamed to Europe later on, i just didn't have the time to change that as the gamecube pal-list was a last-minute rush-job of converting a German release list i had made for myself!

Sounds good to me, although maybe you should still keep language variants as separate entries.

no way, we already agreed that language variants are listed as variations in the description field, no use in a list with a dozen Mario Party 4 entries....

Well, what about people who collect packaging variations, or games where there's otherwise a significant difference? I'm not sure on Gamecube, but a good example for PS1 would be "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" games, where they're significantly localised for each area - Australia, the UK, Italy, Germany, the US..

Hell, the Gex game on PS1 had different voiceovers for PAL and NTSC U/C as well.

It's a fair point you make about having millions of pointless entries, yeah, but maybe exceptions could be made for specific stuff of interest?

I'm not exactly adamant about this, I'm just throwing ideas around. :)

those should be listed twice, i have done that for the DC List, one entry for normal Who wants to be a millionaire, one for the french version, because the actual content changed, localization does not warrant a additional entry, i know it's not best for regional variation collectors, but seriously, i doubt ANYONE will EVER go for all regional variations for let's say SNES, that would be a few thousand games... most people want a check list for all games released, not variations, and that's what we provide...

well ntsc and pal are of course always two different entries

no, we got to stick to rules, otherwise people will request all the time arguing "hey, but you did it with XXX why not with YYY"

yeah and it's good to have discussion, but i seriously doubt that the benefit of such a change would overweigh the negative points

All good points, I defer to your wisdom in these matters :)
