I picked up a Spanish language SNES DBZ 3 cart a few weekends ago and I wasn't sure if it was legit or not. The label looks legit, although instead of stating "SPANISH" on it, it's misspelled as "SPANISN"! The game plays fine on my SNES and when the characters talk it's translated into Spanish. I don't have tools to open up the cart but it feels like the same weight as any SNES.

Here's some pics:

What do you guys think?

I have no idea really, but if that is a pirate, it looks amazing. With the exception of Spanish being misspelled, it looks 100% legit. All my pirate carts (famicom) are of piss poor quality, which your game is the opposite.

"SPANISN" is probably a dead give away...to tell you that's a boot maybe?

The quality of the label is exceptional, and that's why I wonder if it's legit or not (even with the mis-spelling of Spanish). The picture doesn't even capture the print quality - the DBZ characters are very clear. Also, the label has a glossy sheen to it just like a regular SNES cart.

The plastic cart case itself is official. If this is pirated then they'd have to had cannibalized a legit cart.

I live in Las Vegas, and a lot of prototypes from CES show up here.

To the poster who said they see these carts in Mexico swap meets - do they have the same label?

that's not of importance here, you're talking of the actual spanish PAL release, this is about a possible south american spanish ntsc release ;)

that cart actually came from hong kong, the quantity made was about 10K pieces, or so i've heard, so even while being a pirate, it is kinda rare.

btw, i'm not saying it isn't a pirate, i think it is, look at the Spanish typo and also at the on top text above the logo which makes you think the scanned a whole label somewhere (which sometimes go around the corner) and placed it on there...

If it's a legit release, why does it have the same game code as The Terminator? :hmm:

The layout is also suitably messed up. That red bar should be on the corner, and the upside-down printing should probably be on the cart edge.

If it was a special Spanish version, wouldn't the label have said the word "Spanish" in Spanish?

actually there were pokemon red and blues in spansih, and it said "IN SPANISH" and some others said "En Espaņol". BTW both were official NOA carts. I opened up both and the board was the same, only the label changed.

Ok :embarrassed:

But I think these are pirates because some of these fighters donīt appear on any of the Snes games. And the cover looks like that "Ultimate battle 22" or whatever is called for the Playstation

Also, there is a random red bar at the top right corner of the label, and the one on the bottom right corner of the label is too tall...

This is as bootleg as it can get.

I may not be an SNES expert or a Gamewizard, but anyone with a little experience in games can easily see all the problems.

The sticker is a FAKE of the best quality I have ever seen. Even better than some originals I have seen hehehe

Just look at the picture. MY GOD who in this Earth, not being blind and having seen other SNES carts can accept a legit to be that bad arreanged?

Just look at the "title" in the top. It should go... ON THE TOP of the cart and that is why it is writtten upwards...

The shell is legit, of course. Pirates might do ANYTHING to get a better copy of something or to make something false look original...
