That's all I know about it. Anyone ever see one? What exactly was it?

ah this takes me back.. I remember when this was announced... this was called "Nintendo Therapy"... for children going under surgery...Doctors back in the mid-90's used this method to calm the children's nerves down since many would panic before the big day...

This idea dates back to when Tetris was introduced...it was originally used in Russian hospitals to help patients to stop worrying and ease their mind.

As for the actual thing itself, that's amazing to see it...I've never had surgery done before, but Im sure the doctors don't use these things or similar anymore

I saw that, but it was the N64 one. According to the site I got this from, it is the NES.

I was in the hospital many times last year. I always ended up with the same two nurses, and they knew me as a regular. One day I was hella depressed because I couldnt get up, so they wheeled in one of those Nintendo centers.
It had a gamecube in it, but thats about all I can remember. I could not appreciate the thing at the time, since I though I was dying.

In 1987 or 88, I had major eye surgery. I was 10. No one wheeled in shit for me to play with. My stepmom brought me my marbles to play with on the bed. I had it done at Stanford. You'd think that they could have come up with one of these things.

I had surgery in 1993, and I remember playing NES while I was waiting, but it wasn't on one of those. They just had a NES hooked up to a T.V.
That thing is awesome!!!

The auction in the other thread was relisted so many times. The seller didn't even loer the price most of the time! Seems he gave up. You'd think they'd get the point that $425 is too much when it doesn't sell the first 3 times.

That said, I'd LOVE one of those for the neatness factor. The colors aren't gay, they're just made to be calming for hospitals. I like them. They actually are colors hospitals usually use.

If I had the $425 lying around, I'd probably spend it on that.

I'm big on any kind of store kiosk, and that sort of fits under the same umbrella.

Does anyone here on DP specifically collect store kiosks/display units?

At this one doctor's office my sister went to, they had one with Super Mario playing.
