Yep. You read that correctly. Count 'em. Not one, but two broken UMAX flatbed scanners. There is the UMAX ASTRA 610p and the UMAX ASTRA 3400; both of which are pristine piles of garbage.
UMAX makes some of the worst equipment I have ever used. If a company is going to specialize is something, they should at least attempt to be good at it. The UMAX 610p connects via Serial port is semi-functional. It scans images in a cool 5 minutes, but it breaks the images down into bands of random color and separates the RGB channels by about 10 pixels wide.
The UMAX Astra 3400 seems to just suck power out of your USB port but it never actually functions. I received this one NEW as a gift and it never worked. Both come with all that crap in the pictures.
Maybe someone out there could use the glass or plastic to make some "sweet num'chuks", a fish tank or a bed pan; I don't know. do i look like a genius. You think of something.
*If anyone that works for UMAX comes across this, please stop making inferior products and slap your supervisor.

I have a feeling the seller was BORED out of his mind the other day. Because on February 1st 2005 he went back and replied to all of his auctions, many of them had ended years before hand. Either that or as already mentioned, this guy is Bi Polor (or maybe he suffers from something even worse). Whatever the reason, this is the most hilarious thing I have ever seen on Ebay in my life, by far!!! LOL
