How much or little does a game have to vary from itself to quantify having a second copy? What constitutes a 'variation'?

i ask this because i have some games that arent much differetn from one another, but i keep them because they are different or 'variants'. I had 4 RC Pro Ams at one point, simply because one had a number printed on the front label. I am in the process of attempting to reform, trying to rid myself of excessive variants. In doing so, i came across this variation I have always been kind of proud to have found. I don't plan to get rid of this one, but wondered if anyone else had found any variations that are kind of subtle, similar to this.

No search turned up any record of 'klashball variants' or any variation on that term, so here it is, my klash ball variation.

the only difference is the background simulated stone coloring. it is lighter on one, but is also a completely different pattern. all i could figure is the lighter one offered better visibility of the NINTENDO logo and number.

If the label is totally different or the name is totally different i'd want it but not 5 crewed or no screws and so on stuff.
I mean like Contra and Probotector,NTSC Maxi 15 and PAL Maxi 15.

I myself only collect obvious changes to the labels. Like the two Gun.Smoke labels, Standard Blades of Steel, red label konami classic series Blades of Steel. Wayne Gretzkey Hockey and it's 3 or 4 different jerseys on Wayne.

I do not go after: different revisions (Rev-a, etc), Diferent style Nintendo seals, or 5 screw or 3 screw variants.

i went wild on 5 screw variants a while back, but im trying to get down to significant variations...hence the reevaluation of my 'variants - do not sell' box. :)

I collect "major" variants. What I mean by that are things like Gold/Gray Zelda, Color Dreams color variations, Classic Series Blades of Steel, etc. Basically most variations *except* screw and seal of quality variations. That puts the US release list just over 800 games by my personal count.
