Actually we do have no chance to survive...

so I have made my time with...

River Raid (5200) a game I consider one of, if not the first top down shmup
Blue Hawk (1993 Dooyng) one worth checking out on MAME. Not earth shaking, considering what else was coming out at the time, but solid enough.
And a little Batsugun, wish the soung was working in MAME tho :(

Giga Wing 2. It's better than the first, I'll give it that.

Ikaruga. I'm loving it, though I wonder if I'll ever see the last stage.

Ikaruga a little bit, and also,
this game called Chaing Air Blade on MAME.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! It is like a shooter fighting game from Sammy. You face off against an opponent plane and try to shoot him down. He eventually gets this huge boss armor, which you can steal if you are quick enough. Tons of fast action...nuthin but bosses.

The last shooter I played, eh? That was Rally Raid on my personal computer. It's a vertically scrolling blaster that looks a little like Radiant Silvergun and plays a lot like Dodonpachi. It was pretty well done for shareware... you can find a demo of the game here:

Unquestionably the Saturn's finest U.S.-released vertical shmup! I posted my million because it got me to the top of the score table. Go ahead and post up when you do the same! (It took me several weeks of off-and-on practice. So if you get it tomorrow, please wait until at least next week to post. :embarrassed: )

Noooo......

It's always sad when a Lynx dies. Isn't it true that whenever you hear bells ring, a Lynx just received its wings?

Anyway, I've also been playing a bit of Zendocon, as well as Blue Lightning, which are still great games. I've discovered that I really miss that old-skool arcade feel from today's games; any developer with half a brain would port those games to the GBA. And, oh, does Hydra and Roadblasters count as shooters?

Last night I played Pyramid Patrol on the Laseractive. Made it to the second boss (but I had it set to "Easy"). The last shmup I played before that was Hyperion (also Laseractive). Couldn't even beat the first boss. I suck at shmups. I'm a shmup shmuck.
