I think I've discovered a place where NES systems go to die... at least in the Athens, Georgia metro area...
Driving around yesterday, I came upon this beat up old pawn shop. I decided to take a chance and search for gameage. Going inside the dusty old store I found old 8-track players and old comic books, but no games.
Then I turned a corner. And I gasped.
Sitting on a wooden shelf with some rusty farm equiment were about 10 NES consoles, all covered with filth and dirty, many of them with the lids snapped off. They looked like they'd been buried in mud.
I considered asking the owner how much they were in order to rescue them (if they were even in working order), but just then his dog took a dump on the floor and he started yelling. I took that as my cue to escape. LOL

My wife and I went to a junk shop outside of Athens on our honeymoon (I couldn't tell you where it was, that was 11 years ago). They had an Atari VCS and about 10 common games behind the shelf. I didn't buy them, but that's what planted the seed of collecting classic games in my head. Plus we saw the Tree That Owns Itself! :rocker:

LOL Josh You always have more excitement and adventure on your hunts than I do! Oh well at least the dog took a dump on the floor instead of the old man!
I guess ya didn't see any games during your short stay in the store though did you?

Only ten? A lot of us have more than that in corners of our basement. Those things pile up when you have to buy a whole lot to get a couple of the games.

LOL I love all the wierd stuff you see because of collecting!
I was reading in the book called "Arcade Fever" by John Sellers an interview with the guy who started up that big coin-op video game museum exhibit. Anyway, this guy also has to go around all over the country to get machines from people. One guy he bought from lived on a farm in the South somewhere, and had a bunch of old game machines in his barn. Well, when the guy got there, the farm-owner had a lot of people at his house, and it was apparent that they were having a KKK meeting.
I've never had an experience like this with games, but my taste in music has DEFINITELY gotten me into wierd situations, usually with slightly dangerous girls. (I'm not trying to brag about that; it actually really sucks.)
