Nintendo and Sega making a new console?

What do you think?
will it happen? could it happen? what are the chances?
I think there is a good chance of this actually happening if Nintendos Revolution is a failure or if the big N comes in at #3 once again.
While its very unlikely that Sega would ever venture out on their own again as far as home consoles go I think the possibilities of them combining and/or collaberating with a company like Nintendo or even SNK/Playmore are endless.
Of course this is all speculation and wishful thinking but they could even release a Niche system similiar to the Neo-Geo.
Also I think Nintendo would work with another company whether it be exclusivity, co-creating developing/publishing a new game system before completey bowing out of the console race.
and seeing as most of Segas games have been more successful on the Gamecube I think theres a 50/50 chance overall.

The only way I could see a company collaborating with another company that FAILED in the console market is if they're extremely desperate... to the point of dropping below 10% market share maybe.

Not in this decade...the brightest move they made is becoming 3rd party support again...which seems to be working out just fine. Maybe one day when they are fully ready to come back to the console business..but as of now, i don't see it happening

I don't think it will happen, but you always have to leave open a possibility. I mean...Sega had an AWESOME console (in my opinion) before Playstation 2 came to town, and Nintendo has fallen to third place (something they, or their fans, aren't used to). Sega would like to get revenge ( I assume) and Nintendo would like nothing better than to get a chance to retake the throne to the business they helped resucitate. Them two together couldn't hurt. They would have my support. Both companies make great games and consoles... :( aaaaaaa...to dream...

It's not going to happen, but I really do like how close it seems the two former enemies are working these days.

sega wont make one by themselves or with another company

i suspect this will be nintendo's last system, based on the current gen....unless they do something amazing and "revolutionary"

if nintendo fails this time, i think they will stick with the portable market and will not make another home console or colaborate on one

if the psp does well, the ds might start to hurt and nintendo may loose their death grip on the portable market as well

Is this "What Sega ISN'T going to do day?" If I were Sega, I'd steer WAY clear of the console market. While a Nintendo/Sega console would have EVERYONE'S jaws on the floor and probably would be a good brawler against XBOX and Sony, I think they made it pretty clear they aren't considering the console market. Again. Ever.
