I've been looking for a good used TI-99 4a system. I remember playing old Scott Adams text adventures on the thing quite fondly in my youth (my friend had the unit, I never owned one).
I'm from the land of TI (Eastern MA) and haven't found a single one at yard sales (and we go all season long!). I've found just about everything else... so I'm thinking of breaking down and buying one. Anyone happen to have a spare? I did find one yard sale that had a box of TI-99 random parts he gave me for free - powersupply (designation: AC 9500), 2 joysticks (i.e. "remote controllers" heh!), some multi-lead cable that looks like it connects up a couple of tape drives (I assume I can use any tape cassette recorder), a generic RF cable (has F-style female connector on one end, F-style and twin leads on the other - I have no idea if this is the TI-way of hooking up a 4a to a TV/Monitor but it was in the box). A Y-adapter that someone told me is so I can use Atari joysticks on the unit (though I have 2 TI joysticks). A few other power cord type items that are clearly marked with a TI designation. So maybe all I really need is just the main unit? I haven't tested the power supply but I'll do so promply. If you've got a cheap unit for sale I'm probably interested. Any good carts or tapes that you have as dupes I'd probably also be interested.
Thanks much in advance! I can pay with Paypal. I don't have much to trade - a few NES and Atari dupes but my feedback here and on ebay is perfect. I've gone to the NECG several times in the past few years and been easy to deal with -- I'm perfectly stable (my wife may beg to differ!) ;)
