As I'm eating my Egg McMuffin in Concord, Ca i start to hear from the playground Mario Kart. I head over there to the playground and see an N64 kiosk. I had no clue that McDonalds had N64s there for the kids to play. They had 4 kiddie games each with its own screen and 2 controllers. The games were Mario Kart, Mario Party 3, Elmo's Letter Adventure, and Tigger's Hunny Hunt. I found it weird to see videogames in a McDonalds. Do any of you know how many of these kiosks are out there cause this is the first i've seen one and i've travelled cross country twice and this is a first. Any chance of them being in the dp guide as a non cart item or something cause they must be rare.

Yeap...the McDonalds near my house here in Owasso, has not 1..not 2...but 6 cubes setup for kids to play on!

These are the staples that I seem to find usually on them:

Sonic Classics
Mikey and the Magic Mirror
2 with Mario Kart
Kirby's air ride
and I honestly can't remember the last one...I think that one is always having video issues so you can't ever see what is on the screen. My kids always want to sit in my lap and have me play some Sonic or Mikey's Magic Mirror for them...

We have those at a pizza place called Alfys. On a related topic, I was at Tokyo Disneyland. They play this music everywhere, its all beep, bloop and ding noises. As I listened, I noticed the song was Black Hole Sun. I just sang along with it...at the moment it was borderline disturbing. There were people sleeping all over the sidewalk, they looked homeless but we were INSIDE the park. We then watched the christmas parade. This big truck was passing by, maybe 10 feet in front of us, and it had paintings of big gingerbread men on it. Right as the truck reached us, there was a loud "BOING" and the paintings jumped off the truck and started dancing in the street! They were people in costumes standing in holes in the side of the truck...that was the weirdest place Ive ever been...it really turned out to be a bad memory. Add to that the fact that we didnt get to ride any rides. Every time we got in line someone would ask for our passport...we didnt bring our freaking passport to Disneyland. When we got back home we found out they were asking for our Disney park Passport...AKA our "ticket"

Wow...now THATS off topic. I just got rolling there for a minute. :hmm:

We have one up here, Everett Wa, that as of the last time I checked had advertisments all over the windows advertising the fact that you could play N64 there. It's been that way for at least a couple of years at least.

McDonald's used to have Neo Geo arcade cabs back in the early 90's. I remember at least three of the games that were available for play: Puzzle Bobble, Baseball Stars, and a platformer I can't remember the name of.

I've never seen N64 or Gamecube kiosks at a McDonald's before, though. That's pretty cool.

I've seen that (Mickey D's with N64 kiosk) at a Wal-Mart here in Montreal, but that was a while back.

Here in Albuquerque I know of 2 McD's that have had those N64 kiosks for the last three or four years. By now they're pretty ratty: screen burns, missing controllers, and the controllers that are there usually have broken analog sticks :shameful:.

I did a little research on them some time back. They're made by some company whose name presently escapes me. What this company makes, specifically, are game and entertainment kiosks intended for use in places like doctor and dentist offices. They're not N64 specific. You can pretty much put any modern console in them. Not a complicated setup at all: There's the kiosk body, electrical hookups and a timer switch you can set so that the consoles reboot every 5 minutes or whatever you choose.

The McDonalds kiosks are custom jobs, and I believe the manufacturer only sells those to McDonalds franchises. Otherwise they sold similar-enough looking other models without the Fry Guys or whatever on them. What I'm saying is that if you're interested in buying one you'll probably have to talk to the franchise management.

Somebody mentioned GameCube kiosks as well. I've seen those at one local McD's and they looked something like this:

I bought four of these-style kiosks from a Burger King that went belly up a couple of years ago and turned them all into MAME cabs (website coming soon detailing that project). But I'm curious as to whether or not anybody know exactly who makes this model of kiosk?

I've seen it once before, at a McDonalds in a place called Paso Robles (Californians might know it). It's a really cool McDonalds, all fitted out in a retro-style setting. The outside looks like the McDonalds used to in the 50's. Anyway, they have (or had, I haven't been there for a long time) a couple of Gamecubes set up for people to play. Very cool.

I want a MCDONALD'S N64 KIOSK! How much do you think those would be worth?

I've seen a Mario Kart one locally (in Machesney Park, IL) and another Mario Kart one inside the McDonalds at Woodfield Mall (Schaumberg, IL). I never knew that any other games existed in them. Cool!
