I don't know if this has been discovered yet, but I found it on the Yak's message board. It's a flash game called...wait for it...

Heh. If I'm not mistaken, the arcade version - "VS. Duck Hunt" - has a bonus round in which you actually can shoot the dog.

Isn't that an urban legend? That's one of those things that people vaguely remember, but can never prove. I'd have to see proof before I start believing. Any pictures?

Not urban legend at all, it's fact. :)

The whole point of the bonus round is to shoot all the ducks and AVOID shooting the dog. If you shoot him, the bonus round ends and he comes out at the bottom of the screen all angry with a crutch and a cast on his leg.

There's a Vs. Duck Hunt at this dry cleaners about 30 miles away. Never got to play it yet.

You can also shoot the dog in Barker Bill's Trick Shooting for NES.

So Nintendo obviously censored the game for the NES release. Typical. Just like they did with "Soda Popinski" rather than "Vodka Drunkenski" in the NES Punch Out!!. Did they think people would be inspired to shoot their dogs or something? Jesus, it was clearly all in good fun, and they had to ruin that nice touch of humor to an otherwise mediocre game.

LOL I remember that flash game. I've known about it for like a year. Fun stuff. Theres another one where you can kill the old man from The Legend of Zelda.

No as far as I know he was alive for the entire game. If you tried to hit him with any weapon he would shoot back at you from the fire pots on both sides of him. ;)

You can't hit the old men in the overworld. However, you can in the underworld, and they shoot back (well, their fire pots do).
