I just got a Lynx II, and I have no games...
It doesn't seem to power-up, but I have no game inserted. Will the display glow and the powe rlight illuminate when there is no game inserted?

Nope you have to have a game in it.

My GameGear powers up as long as there're good batteries inserted. It doesn't display anything, but you can see the glow of the display and the power light illuminates.

Before you get too far along, try adjusting the brightness knob. Also try powering it on while the room is darkened. Then you'll really get an idea if the backlight is coming on...
Good luck.

i turned off the light and played with the contrast knob and i still can't hear or see anything coming from the gamegear except the power light. :(

The light turns on and the screen shows something like "Insert game card" or "Please insert game".
