View Full Version : Mario on SNES

I've been wondering about this for a long time now, so it's about time I ask:
What are all the Mario and Mario-related games ever released for the SNES?
I'm primarily interested in US releases, but if you know of any Japanese or European exclusives, please feel free to mention those with a note as well.
This should be a pretty long list. Years of release would be most helpful also. So if any of you Nintendophiles would be so kind, how about a Mario timeline?
I'm asking this, because at some point I would like to try and collect all the Mario and Mario-related games that I've never gotten around to getting yet.
That's a pretty long list in itself. And since I only collect sealed SNES, it will be a fairly expensive goal, but still not impossible to achieve by any means.
So let's have it. How many Mario or Mario-related SNES games can you name?
I mean everything. Mario this, Mario that, Mario the other, Mario, Mario, Mario!

There are a TON of games that feature Mario in them. I actually know of another guy online who is trying to buy all games that feature Mario in them, which is a pretty crazy idea, but he's obviously crazy. LOL
I think he told me that he knows of around 220 games that feature Mario in them, but I'm not sure how many of them are on the SNES. I would think there are at least 25 though, if not more.

THANK YOU, DS! That's EXACTLY what I was looking for! A shopping list! 8-)
I actually wouldn't mind going for ALL the games that feature Mario or have something to do with him in some way someday, but as of now I only own a SNES and a VB, and I already own all the domestic releases for the VB. But I do have a long way to go for the SNES. And I've delayed this for too long.
So let's see, these are all the Mario or related games that I have for SNES:
Super Mario RPG
DKC
DKC 2
DKC 3
Legend of Zelda
Sim City
Super Scope 6
Mario Paint
Now let's see what I want to start out with, to fill in all those awful holes!:
Super Mario All Stars
Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island
Mario Kart
Kirby Super Star
Wario's Woods
Yoshi's Cookie
Yoshi's Safari
Those should get me off to a good start, and most of them shouldn't be too expensive, as long as I go with the Million Seller versions and some ebay idiot doesn't mistake them for the original releases and think that they're originals. So Mario Kart will probably cost me the most. I do wish that I had gotten it already, before people on ebay started going nuts on any sealed version of Mario Kart, but I should be able to get it for a reasonable price eventually. So thank goodness I did at least have enough sense to get Super Mario RPG when it first came out. That one would be a killer to try and buy it sealed on ebay now. So I think I'll start with Mario Kart, All Stars, & Super Mario World 1 & 2 for now. Hopefully I can get a good deal on them, without having to fight anyone for them. BIN for $20 - $40 each would be ideal, but if I have to, then I would be willing to go as high as $60 each. But no higher. I think that $250 for all four of those shipped would be quite enough, and it would be even better if I could get all four of them for $100 - $150 shipped or less. Then I'll see about the rest on my list, and maybe all the Tetris games. All of those should be pretty cheap also. Then I'll get into the vague references.

I'll take a stab... off the top of my head. I'm big into SNES games, so I think I can get most of them.
Super Mario World
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Mario Kart
Mario Paint
Mario's Early Years: Pre-School
Mario's Early Years: Fun with Letters
Mario's Early Years: Fun with Numbers
Mario is Missing
Mario's Time Machine
Yoshi's Cookie
Yoshi's Safari
Mario's Super Picross (JP only)
Super Mario RPG
Dr. Mario (JP only)
Dr. Mario (aka BS Dr. Mario. Satellaview. JP Only)
Tetris & Dr. Mario
Super Mario All-Stars
Mario and Wario
That's all I can think of. Someone else can fill in the blanks.
EDIT:
DKC
DKC 2
DKC 3
Legend of Zelda
Sim City
Super Scope 6
Huh? None of those games have Mario in them, that I can remember. Sure, Donkey Kong and Mario are distantly related, but other than that, I don't know that your Mario-crazed friend will consider any of those "Mario" games. I mean... Zelda?

Check out that page I linked to. They aren't "Mario" games, but Mario appears in them somewhere in the game (for example, you get a Mario statue in Sim City after reaching a certain milestone in the game). On that page, you can click on each game to see where Mario appears in that game.

Mario doesn't appear in DKC and DKC3, LOOK at the link provided, there are just sounds from mario games played or even only from the Donkey Kong game (that featured Mario)
that really doesn't count!!

Satelaview had, Wrecking Crew '98 and Mario themed ExciteBike games. I think they had a Baseball one too.

If you go to the page that DigitalSpace linked to, and click on all the links to each of the games provided there, they take you to a page that explains all the connections.

There was a picture of Mario hanging on a wall inside a house in Zelda 3.

To stem the tide of this Geeky back and forth.
The Superscope can take up quite a bit of room for a few crap games so keep that in mind.

Aww that page won't let me click "Famicom Detective Club Part II" I've beaten the game and I don't remember the mario reference. Now I'm just curious as to where it was.

I say, what's the deal with Yoshi no Kuruppon - Oven de Cookie ? The ROM is easily found, but it's hard to say just what is going on... Some sort of cooking promotion?
