There is just too much going on in the GBA emulation scene for me to miss out on, so I ordered a new Flash Extreme 256 MB kit (connectable to parallel OR usb) for my Gameboy Advance. I can't wait till it arrives. I need to try PocketNES and PocketSMS! Next thing I have to do is mod this thing with a damn light....although Nintendo should have already done this to begin with!

Well Merry Christmas to YOU!

I'd like to hear people's experience with this. I'm not that much into handheld gaming, personally.

Merry Christmas from my brother :) He actually paid for it for me for a Xmas gift. I have been looking at Snes, SMS, Spectrum and a few other emulators on the net...and it all looks great! I'll let you know how it works out!

Hey, any idea if the Flash thingie will work on the GBA attachment that they'll be putting out for the GameCube? Any reason to think it wouldn't?

How do you know which one to buy? I've gone to those pages and they have about 20 different versions of GBA flash carts. How are the Smartmedia ones better or worse than the ones with built in memory?

Smartmedia is crap. Basically what it does is enable you to store games on a smartmedia memory card. They STILL have to be trasferred to a flash card to be able to run on a GBA. Basically they're good if you go on a trip. You can store a bunch of games on a few smart cards, and selectively zap them to your gba flash card when you want to. The one I ordered was the Flash Advance Extreme 256 kit. It has the adapter to connect to usb or lpt, and you flash your software from your pc to the card that way. Essentially all you need is this kit, a GBA (of course) and a PC with software. The older version (Flash2Advance) is the same technically, except it only connects to an lpt. USB support is part of the newer model.

Yes. I am 99.9% sure it will work fine when this unit is released.

I have the linker and just a 64MB card. I love it. I have a 25-45 min commute to and from work every day and pocketNES makes time fly. Even just on my 64MB card I think I get 30+ NES titles. Last time I checked pocketSMS was no good. The spectrum emulator isn't bad but it'd be great if there was a C64 one. I also like to test out some of the GBA releases that I would never pay for. Congrats, you're gonna love it. I can send you my pocketNES collection for you to try out when you get it. Let me know.

I'd like to get a copy of the PocketNES w/roms. It is easy to add your own roms to the pocketnes build right? And the latest version is 0.7? I also hear loopy is the person responsible for it. I loved loopynes for the PC, so this should be great. Also, what is this I hear about "Pogoshell"?

Actually it's from "The Shining", but it can work for that as well :)
