I got my copy on ebay for $10 :D
Its high in demand, Im not a person to ask when it comes to exact gamr rarity but suikoden II isnt exactly overflowing with copies on ebay, but there are enough. Alot of people want the game therefor the price is going to go way up. Look at FF III on snes, by no means a rare game, but the demand is high so it goes for more than it should.

Suikoden 1 shouldn't really be fetching more than $30, and if you can snag a Suikoden II for ONLY $50, jump at the chance. It usually goes upwards of 80-90, and I believe is legitimately rare (at least an R5, not sure what it's listed as). The guide for Suikoden II usually fetches a hell of a price too.

Yeah, they got for $130. I recently sold one for that price to get Panzer Dragoon Saga. I'm still holding onto my other one though.

eBay prices aren't always the best determination of rarity.

There was a sealed Suikoden on eBay last week for $310!!!
Wow, $30 is dead cheap. Teh PAL version is much rarer than th US version, and often goes over £50 - Most nearer to £70+ (And that's for each of them)
I paid £60 for my sealed PAL Suikoden I!

And to think that I sold a Suikoden and a Suikoden 2 at a garage sale a few years ago for only $20 apiece. No wonder those kids were so happy. They must've laughed their asses off at the foolish old man with the long hair all the way home. And I thought that I was lucky to get $20 apiece for them.

No but it's a pretty good determination of a game's value.

ebay is a teribble judge for prices. Suiko 1 shouldn't cost you more than $30, and II you can get for about $70 or so if you get it from a collector.
A few people on this site (DP one of them) sold some copies of suiko II for $70 I think a few months back.

They arnt really rare as so much as they are in demand. Ebay tends to bring that out in some games, DragonBallGT Final Bout is another good example of that eBay Phenonema of an overly inflated online demand for a game.

One thing to mention also is that not only are these two games pretty good collector-wise, but they're also GREAT games to play
Break the shrinkwrap - play em don't hoard em! 8-)

But for many people ebay is the only place for us to go when it comes to buying rare games BESIDES occasional trades on ebay, but I myself wouldent dish out over $100 on a forum of trust, unless it was someone like Joe himself or another well trusted person, but back on track, I have no stores or trade meets where I live so ebay is the only place to go when it comes to games you simply cannot find in the wild.
Sure ebay might not be accurate when it comes to value, but for most people its what we have to go by :(
