First, the listening info:

What: Gaming Age Radio, Show #2- The Best in Video Game Music and Discussion

When: Friday, February 25th, 7pm-10pm PST

Where: gamingage.servegame.com (stream)

http://kngi.ne0-net.com/chat/index.htm (chatroom)

or: #ngi on esper.net

Sorry, I'm a little late with the info- mainly because I planned to record some interviews for the show, and technical difficulties prevented that from happening. Regardless, Show #2 is gonna be a great show, definitely better than the first. I'm not quite as rough around the edges, I've got a lot more music requests this time, and the contest is going to kick even more ass than the last one. I won't disclose details on the contest itself, but I will say that the prize this time around is much cooler. For those who don't know, last Friday I gave out two issues of The Legend of Zelda Comic, to the person who could tell me how many Mega Man games were released in the US. People had until the end of the show to guess, and it seemed like everybody had a lot of fun with it. This time around, the contest is going to require you to do a little more work, and will test your creativity, but the prize is going to be... an old-school, black-and-white, 8-bit, huge-as-hell classic Game Boy! I'll even throw in a game and 4 AA batteries, so you can start playing as soon as it gets to you (shipped free, natch). If that's not a cool piece of gaming history, you're an insatiable bastard!

Besides the contest, I plan to do everything else I did last week: game reviews, open discussions with the chatroom, Gaming Site of the Week, 'Best of Super Radio X', spotllight on a classic game, and of course, play the wide variety of music that my show is known for. So, everybody seemed to really enjoy the show last week- hope to see all of you again tomorrow, and the rest of youz, tune in and give me a chance to blow your mind out your arsehole!

(ps- I'm working on this interview thing, and hopefully I'll be able to start running some next week!)

edit: java chatroom link fixed!

Thanks! Yeah, I'll probably re-run it; in fact, I'm gonna look into making a torrent for the first two shows. I'll have more info on that Saturday.

Alright, the show is broadcasting in about an hour. I'll have the stream up about 15 minutes beforehand, just so everybody can get connected and settled before we start.

Drat I missed it. I hope it went well, I was looking forward to checking it out. :(

Alright, a few more details...

For those who missed the show, I'd still like you to give the contest a shot, if you can. What I want you to do is, create a video game themed desktop wallpaper. The only requirements are that you use at 3 in-game screenshots, and that the file format is either .jpg or .bmp. Other than that, it's up to you as far as what program you use, resolution, etc. You have until Wednesday, March 2nd to submit your entry to me- email it to ericface at hotmail dot com. I have a panel of about 10 judges who will decide on a winner, who will be announced on the next show. As previously stated, the prize is a classic, black & white gameboy, complete with 4 AA batteries, and your choice of game (within reason). Give it a shot, guys- I'd love to have more VG wallpapers for my desktop!

Also, I'm working on creating torrents for the first two shows. I'm just looking for a site to upload the trackers. I should have info up tonight. For those of you who don't have torrent clients yet, I recommend BitComet.

Eric Dude

Torrents are now seeded for both shows! Get the .torrent files at: http://vgr.dragolf.net/tunes/Gaming%20Age%20Radio/

I suggest using BitComet to leech these... seems like the most reliable program, to me.

Only one more day to enter the contest- please do! I only have 2 entries so far... :(

Also, if you wanna get some requests in for Friday's show, feel free to do it here.

Cool, I'll jump on the torrent before I head to work tonight and check em out while I'm off the next two days ;D.

Eric Dude

Ok- I won't be home till 6pm PST, though, and I forgot to leave the torrent up. I'll get it up as soon as I get home.

Eric Dude

Got your entry! Lookin' good, and thanks for entering, dude!

Yes, definitely a show this Friday. In fact, show every Friday, barring catastrophic events. We will announce the winners of the contest during the upcoming show.

If I have school tomorrow, during Yearbook I'll work on something. I already have a cool idea in mind, I just need to use fotochop CS at my school.

Also, somebody asked if you can submit multiple entires- yes! They will all get voted on. I want more wallpapers, anyway.

Eric Dude
03-03-2005, 01:41 AM
Alright, I got a fair amount of entries, most of which are from people on these forums- so thanks, guys!

We'll announce the winner on Friday's Show, and I'll give a link to the webpage where all can view the entries. Also, I have the techology to do phone interviews now, so expect 1 or 2 of those. Gimme some requests for music here, and be sure to tune in Friday! All the info is in the first post of this thread. Thanks everybody!

Well, there was supposed to be a show tonight, but as unbelievable as it may seem, my cable modem crashed from 5pm-9pm, which is pretty much when my show would run. I don't know what the hell happened there.

Anyway, I postponed the show until tomorrow at 5pm PST. The contest winners will be announced then. One other idea I came up with was, to also have a 'fan vote'- everybody in the chatroom will message my colleague Kyle, and tell them what their favorite wallpaper is. Whoever gets the most fan votes, would get a 2nd place prize. So yeah, hopefully that's a bit more incentive to tune in, even if it's a day late. Sorry guys, nothing seemed to go right today- there were cops blocking off a whole section of my city, I couldn't get the phone interviews thing to work, etc. Anyway, I'm ready to rock tomorrow, so hopefully you all can still tune in, and find out who won the contest.
