Who here has played this? I've been trying to track down the original Famicom game for quite some time now, but with no luck. For the time being, I'm stuck with just the ROM.

IMO, this has to be the best overhead shmup I've ever seen for the NES. Konami really pulled some amazing stuff off with this one.

Nice!

I take it there was no US release (bastages!)

Normally I'm not too into the NES shmups (too much flicker) but I'll have to check that one out!

I gave Crisis Force a spin last night, and I'm quite impressed. This is the stuff that good shooters are made of: creative enemy patterns, inventive power-ups, and that all-important thrill of pounding your foes with a fully outfitted ship.

By the way, did you find Crisis Force similar to Compile's shooters? Some of the designs recall the Aleste series, I think, and the chasm of level 3 is highly reminiscent of the third stage of M.U.S.H.A.

cw - nope, no U.S. release, just like Gradius II. It would have been sweet if they had released it - I know I would have bought a copy.

Fenris - It does remind me a lot of MUSHA, actually. Kinda makes me wonder if someone at Konami was inspired by what Compile was doing at the time.
