I know that I'm going to buy one of the two. Which one should I get? :hmm: x_x

GameGear....but don't give me that look...because I'm not part of a Sega cult....yeah...yeah...that's the ticket... ;)

Uhhh, come on now, Game Gear man ;-)

Yay for Sega fanboys :P

Out of all honesty though, I'd go with a Game Gear over a Lynx. I personally just like the games on GG more, but hey, to each his own.

Both :)

I play both of mine about the same, regardless that the Lynx has a smaller library.

Lynx. For the love of god, Lynx.

Edit: Seriously, I own all of Sega's Systems, and I do like them a lot, but I think game gear just lacks compelling games. I think Game Gear gets a helluva lot better with a Master Gear converter...but I still think it's just alright.

Personally if you can get both cheap I would (and did)

the Game Gear has a bigger library but the Lynx has some really nicely done homebrew games.

I have two of both and I say get the Lynx hands down. I find it very hard to look at the Game Gear screen for too long. In fact I would go so far as to say it is total crap. I'm talking about the screen of course and not the games. I don't know if the Lynx has a better screen or maybe its the games just have less detail but I find it much more enjoyable to play for extended periods of time. I have all kinds of handhelds and I love Sega but the Game Gear is probably my least favorite handheld I own. Get a Lynx.

Game Gear.

I have both, and as good as the Lynx is, the Game Gear is just so much better. More comfortable, better battery economy much better games (and this gets even better with a Master System converter) and much better controls (can't stand the Lynx d-pad).

The GG is cool, but the Lynx is much more unique. I would recommend the Lynx if you are interested in exploring something new, the GG if you want to play it safe. You will need that Master Gear converter if you get the GG though. So nice.

Game Gear! There's WAY more games for it, and the only really valid reason to get a Lynx is if you DON'T want alot of games for it! I have 75 games for my Game Gear so far, and I have yet to be disappointed with a single one of them. The Game Gear has something for everyone, the Lynx has something for everyone to wish it had. There's only like 75 games in its entire library, and there's only a handful of them that are really any good. But the Game Gear has 100's of games, especially if you get a Master Gear converter for it. Then you can play SMS games on it, and there's 100's of those available too.

If you can get both of them! If you want a GG for the sega games, I'd say try to find a Genesis Nomad- a better system than GG and it plays ALL the Genesis games, and the screen isn't liquid crystal- which gives that squish look when you press the buttons near the screen too hard. On the side of the GG though, games are easier to find and cheaper- Lynx is harder to find.
Really depends on if you are buying as a collector or as a player.

There are some Lynx game that are so good, it's a shame they never got ported to anything else. Electrocop is fantastic. I realize it has some visibility issues, but they did a good job with it, and it plays like a 3-D Zillion. Lynx also had (until VERY recently) the only home port of APB. Lynx games are a unique thing to behold, and they LOOK REALLY GOOD. Still pictures don't do it justice. Go with a Lynx.

I say GG because I don't have a lynx.

But my question to you lynx guys is which version of the lynx are you talking about. The original or the slightly smaller one?

The smaller one's a little more "portable", and if I remember correctly, it doesn't eat batteries quite as badly.

Hmm, Game Gear is a pretty nice portable, but I would say to give the Lynx a go personally. I had the Game Gear back when it was released, and while it looked pretty good, I never really got into it. Just goes to show how much of an impact the games made on me, I can only remember Sonic...and that was average at best. The Lynx however I do remember, and remember well. It has a very clean screen, some great games, good sound, and a feel about it that is just different..but good.

A little off topic here, but if you do decide to go with Sega, why not the Nomad? That is my second favorite portable next to the Turbo Express....although both are based on the home consoles (Genesis/TG16)

You are a lucky, lucky man. You have 75 GG games and have never been disappointed with even one of them? You aren't just lucky... you have fantastic taste in games.

Actually, most of my 20+ GG games are pretty darned good too... I've been selective.

I take it you don't own the GG version of Smash TV. It is one of the most disappointing games I have ever played. What a huge POS!!! The SMS version is identical, and it doesn't get much better on a big TV. This is one of the choppiest games ever made. I hate it, hate it, HATE IT!!!

That being said, I'd probably trade my GG collection for a Lynx with some good games. The scaling and rotation effects on the Lynx are the shiznit.

Cheers
