View Full Version : where are all the Xboxes?

So I have broke down and deceided to buy an xbox. I have a bit over $250 in best buy gift cards so I figured what better way to spend them. I get to best buy and NO XBOXES in stock. Next Best buy about 10 min. away, No boxes in stock. I ask a sales person in both stores same story, They haven't shipped any in a while, maybe next week.
WHY haven't they shipped any? Is micosoft slowing down production? Is Best Buy keeping it stock low so they don't get stuck with a bunch on hand?
I even checked the TRU across the lot from one of the BB and they were out also.
Anyone share any insight?

we've been out since before christmas, but mostly because we're using any traded xboxes for parts to repair customers' systems. most of the local competitors are sold out as well.

Wierd, my local EB and TRU each has 3 in stock, I just unloaded bunch of TRU clearance games at EB and paid very little for my new box. I've indeed heard the shortage of Xbox in most part of the country, on the other hand, PS2 is much more available.
It would not surprise me if both companies (MS and Sony) come to realize yeilds are more important than market share, install base, and sales volume. I thought last holiday season MS could've made a lot more Xboxes to catch up with Sony and to match demand. I heard both companies determine the number of systems to produce each quarter based on sales of games.

Maybe they have to hold up shipments until they replace all those bad power cords...

A couple weeks ago while I was in GameStop, someone came in and asked for an Xbox, but they were out (odd).
I don't know. A mini version of the Xbox wouldn't surprise me at all...

Ha, yeah. I would bet money that Microsoft will make a smaller model of the Xbox. Anyone care to place a bet?
Oh wait, most of you are probably expecting one, too. Heh...:/
Best Buy guy in Milwauke said that is was just a supply issue, and that no updatd Xbox was coming out. Not sure if he knows what he was talking about, but that was the info he gave me...

If I were you, I'd hold off until E3. I wouldn't be surprised to see a price drop around then.

It actually is a supply issue...Not only with Microsoft, but with Sony also.

When is E3?
I love how best buy has about 200 different Xbox titles to chose from and no systems. Then when I go to see what Cube games they have, there are 20 to chose from and 3 different color consoles.
I did notice that They finally got PS2's back in stock.
I also noticed that they have not run Xbox hardware in there weekly circular again this coming week.

they were gone from all the stores around here up until late January. Now it seems demand has been met and i see them everywhere now.
so wait it out and check around every other day. they seem to come into small stores every 3 days and to the big chains(cc) every week.

Im just hoping that by the time there back in stock I still have the urge to buy one. It was one of those spur of the moment im not doing anything else tonight lets go buy an xbox type thing.
