topic, i was surfing some games and found some games i swore were on the 32x. these were jap mega drive but the cart was like twice as big, just wondering if japan actually saw a release of the 32x or did they somehow build the chip into the cart?

I doubt it sold very well over there, but there is ONE game that was released for the Japanese 32X only -- an upgraded version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV by Koei. Susposed to be fairly rare. As for gameplay, I'm told it's not really any different compared to the more common PC and SNES versions.

Japanese 32X games are the same size and shape as US 32X games. Japanese Megadrive games are slightly wider than Genesis games. The only carts that were any larger than normal carts were Virtua Racing, and just about any game made by EA or Accolade. AFAIK only EA published games in Japan, though they did use those larger carts (with pink and green tabs in addition to yellow).
I'm curious now -- got any pics, perchance?
