I walked into a consignment shop after picking up some stuff at a game store a few stores down. I went to the back and found a genesis with everything except the ac adaptor laying in a basket with 2 genny manuals and a nes controller. It wasnt theirs so they couldnt sell it to me

I don't get it. If it wasn't theirs, why were they selling it? Or..not selling it....or........blah!

I've had several Ebay wins that were amazing and had the sellers tell me that, "The games must have got lost in the mail. Here is a PAYPAL refund"

Has a seller refused to sell you their stuff

Yes,a few times at the flea market.

(Items that they said were sold or for display..)

Ebay:
Two Arcade machines that I won on Ebay cheap:(local enough for pick-up)
The seller didn't get what he wanted and didn't use a reserve..
He was nice about it so I just said the heck with it..

Store:
Best Buys..refused to sell my Uncle that recalled Fighting Xbox game when he found it on a shelf and tried to pay for it.

What was the fighting game that got recalled on X-box?

At a pawn shop I was gonna pick up a bunch of genny boxes and manuals (no games) and the guy decided not to sale them. Something about getting ready to do an inventory or something.

I was at a flea market, A run down one that has sinc been destroyed. There was this chinese guy who had a booth, and i spotted some Nes games behind his counter in 1 or 2 cardboard boxes. Me and my friend asked if we could see them, and he promptly shook his head and walked between us and the his counter. Guess he didnt trust us :/

EDIT: THEN the funny thing is, a few months later we see him at another flea market, after the rundown one was destroyed. he had the same box of games, only this time it wasnt a problem to see them...

I was at a small store in Ontario, had a fairly large collection of middle of the road Saturn Games, Wing Arms, Blazing Heroes, stuff like that. I think there was roughly 10 games, I said I'd take them all, no wheeling and dealing, no nothing. Just a straight sale. They wouldn't sell to me. I left without buying anything, and never went back.

There's a guy in Ontario that runs a shop called Playmania and a series of flea market booths. He's also known as the "yellow sticker guy" cause he has handwritten yellow stickers on all his games, and the Game Nazi cause he's such a dick. He's repeatedly refused to sell to me and others even though he has TONS of games in his store because item X "hasn't been priced yet, you come back two weeks". Every time you come back, he says the same thing. He's a bad scammer tho...sells for easily 150% of eBay on EVERYTHING...often more!

maybe he had just picked them up and wanted to check the prices and rarity on DP before he sold anything really rare for too cheap to you.....maybe he took out all the worthwhile stuff and sent it to ebay

Wait a minute....if it ain't theirs....and you want it....then it's legally yours..but that's how I see it :)

I won a top-loading NES with 2 dogbone controllers off Ebay a while back... the Seller e-mailed me and said that he was not happy with the final ending price of the auction and thought the fact that the system came with two dogbones should have gotten him a better price. He offered to sell me the NES by itself for the auction price or add another $25 for the controllers. I cussed him out, neg'd him, and let him know that if he neg'd ME that things were going to get ugly.

He never did and stopped selling shortly after.

Exact same thing here.

This guy had a huge box full of Sega CD / Saturn games - all the hard to find stuff too. I had a big handful of games to buy, and he walks up and says - "Those aren't for sale - they aren't priced yet. Come back next week." Walk off, go back the next week, and they're gone.

I've had quite a few situations where sellers on smaller online auction sites would forget to put a reserve on certain items and I'd win them for a tiny fraction of their actual value.

Most of the time the seller just wouldn't answer my emails after the auction. In fact, the only person who ever sold to me was a guy who lived only a couple miles away from me. LOL

I've had a couple problems like that...

There is a store in London, Ont (on Dundas) which is just FULL of crap.. with some games mixed in.. I pulled out a stack of SMS and 32x and Saturn games from his shelves, and he told me that he didn't want to sell them to me because I wanted so many... @_@ I explained to him that I was from out of town and only passed through once or twice a year and collected all 3 of these systems... and he said they were probably worth more than he was asking and said I couldn't have them...

Another time, here in Windsor, I found a box full of boxed CV games (~10) and a system at a thrift and when I lugged it up to the counter, I was told that they "hold" all video games for a guy who comes by every Wednesday...
.. which I found out about a year later is a guy who operates another "thrift" store... :hmm:

Finally, in Toronto there was a place in the Eaton's Centre which had 2 Turbo CD units (NIB) just sitting on the shelf for YEARS. Finally, after seeing these things sitting there for so many years, I offered him a price which would have been cash, for the 2 units, at a discount of just the taxes (15%). He said, "no, there is a guy in California who wants them and will pay $300 each". So I asked why they were sitting on the shelf still.. and he replied that it would cost too much to ship them.. :eek 2: I never did get those things and I really regret it, because my CD unit has completely crapped out on me now... :(

Sounds like RV Electronics on Dundas in London :) Run by a Pakistani (I think) family...they're all dicks too. Every time I go there and want something...as soon as it comes to the counter either the price goes up double or triple or more, or it's "not for sale".

That's it!

I now remember an earlier visit to that same store - probably around 1995-96 when he had a Duo-tang with hand-written lists of what games he "had" and what the prices were... He had 2 pages of Duo games and when I asked for them, he brought me a copy of Power League baseball and one of the many soccer titles for the PC Engine.. and said that was all he had...

Sometimes, when i ask for a lower price. Example:

I was at a flea market , And a guy had a bunch of NES games. He was asking $3 each for them. I asked him if he would sell them as a bulk load for less, And he didn't agree. He probably thought i asked if he would accept a dime for each game. x_x :hmm:

Yep, that's him! He STILL has those books, and they're STILL poorly updated. No Duo one tho...that's for sure :(

I listed some auctions and two ended far below what they should have. I forgot to put reserves on them, and that still grates on me. That something in NICE condition that usually should go for $40 goes for $10 when I list it, considering a beat-up copy usually goes for almost double what my pristine one did. Fuck...I'm mad at myself. And I did this TWICE! LOL I sold them to the winners, though. Damnit.

I had a lady at a yard sale refuse to sell me an Atari 2600 with a few games. The box was clearly labeled "$10" but she said that was too cheap, and wanted $50.

Another time a lady at a used game STORE refused to sell me Itchy and Scratchy for the SNES for $3. She told me that I "didn't want it, because it sucked." Really. So I suppose that copy of Wayne's World right next to it on the shelf was better?

I would have taken him to court. The second you win on ebay you bascially own the item.

Pawn shop: I saw this box full of loose CDs and cases. I asked how much the stuff was in the box or to look at the stuff. He said they arent for sale b/c they are just game cds and boxes and his manager said they arent for sale b/c of that. Do you think I should go back and see if they will sell them to me if I explain I dont care if they have cases or not?

It's happened to me twice on ebay.

First time I won 20 complete (no outer box) Turbo Grafx games for $53 plus shipping. Nice ones like Devil's Crush, Splatterhouse, and Order of the Griffon. After I won he said that his basement got flooded earlier in the week and he must have forgot to pull the auction. Even though he had a different 20 tg game auction ending at the same time that he sold and shipped. Not a suprise considering that one ended for well over $100.

The other time I won a snes with 18 games (15 boxed)for a $70 bin. Chrono Trigger, FF2 and 3, Lufia 1 and 2, Earthbound, Zelda, just absolute craziness at the calibur of games in this auction. And afterwards she said her "kids" didn't want to part with them :( Can't say I blame her. I'd rather take a neg than sell $500 worth of shit for less than $100
