Forget Saddam. The console they're playing on looks like a PS2. And what are they doing anyway? Are they just watching the TV display the cover to SMB2? x_x

Yeah....that's SO stupid.
I've seen in a lot Tv shows where people "play" with PS2s(the most popular "average" gamer console) a Mario(still most popular game charakter) game.
I mean WTF?

Old practices die hard, I guess. TV shows have done that for years. Also, you'll notice that you'll NEVER see the game screen in such an instance. EVER. Not even a tiny sliver of it.

My favorite is and probably always will be the kid in Rumble in the Bronx playing a Game Gear(Maybe a Nomad? It's been awhile.) without a game. Priceless.

The only console I've seen drawn in that comic is a PS2 so yeah. Although they did mention a Gamecube once.
And about weird gaming things in movies, in Jungle 2 Jungle there's a kid playing a Game Boy with this huge Game Genie thingy attached. Huh.

It's a Game Gear. They show him playing it, and there is clearly nothing in it at all. It's also making those weird Movie added sounds.
I also like the Game Gear game in the movie Surf Ninjas. Hilarious! LOL

The GameGear in the movie "Airheads" was stupid too....nothing in it...but yet he's starring at a magnifying glass to see the game better
Or how TV does this...they are playing PS2....but Atari 2600 sound effects are coming out of it
Or the one episode of Drew Carrey, where they are playing Dreamcast...using Saturn controllers...*sure it's possible* but man that's funny

I saw a comparison picture between the two a few months ago -- it was actually a rather disturbing similarity. Hell if I can find it again, though...
The empty Game Gear in Rumble in the Bronx was actually one of the few things I remembered about that movie. Hell, I can't really remember any of the stunts that Jackie Chan did in that one...

In Shawn of The Dead they played Timesplitters 2 for the PS2, and they showed the game too. Although they did add some sounds that arent in the game. "Player 2 has Entered the Game!!!" ten seconds later "Player 2 has left the game!!!". hehe, good stuff.

If I remember correctly the lady from the movie AirHeads played a GameGear, and in Fresh Prince of Bellair, Carlton played a Nomad.

The artist for that comic is pretty young....you'd think he wouldn't have done the whole Mario/Ps2 thing.

Well, I'm talking about the instances where they show completely mismatched audio (like, to pull an example out of my ass, the controllers and/or system are SNES but the audio is 2600).
