I seem to recall that Microsoft bought up the rights to the High Heat Baseball franchise when 3DO went out of business and all their properties were auctioned off. If so, I'm surprised they haven't used it...they even have the right to do a baseball game due to the not-so-exclusive contract Take 2 negotiated. The question is...will they?

Probably not in the near future.
Rumor has it that Microsoft agreed to stop all first-party sports game development in able to get EA to support XBox Live. :(
Maybe on their next console...

Well, maybe they could revise that now that EA won't have a baseball game themselves after this year...

Well, since Ubi Soft is a 3rd parter publisher, it means we won't see High Heat from them even if they bought the rights from Microsoft since Take 2's deal means no other 3rd party can use the MLB franchises...unless they could perhaps use baseball legends of the past that current licensing might not cover...
Wow, that's a long sentence :D
