On the iPod thing, that was an old thing. I used to post all about how the battery fails, but you can cheaply replace them now. That video actually did some good.

lol, i never hear about the battery in ipods, cept the fact that they aren't quickly interchangable so for long trips......you'll need to plug in somewhere. Same fault as with the GBASP. Anyways, apple has standards for each ipod now, if it's under warranty and the battery life of a battery goes under so many hours, they'll replace it. I can't imagine using anything other than an ipod and the only reason i say that is because it's just very functional as an mp3 player. The new 1gb ipod shuffle would do as well, i'm not even sure if you have to use itunes for that....or even the 512mb model? Just my 7 cents...

MP3 Buyer's Guide Cliff Notes:
- iPod and Creative Nomad Zen Xtra are safe, reliable bets
- Stay away from the Rio Karma
- iPod haters generally haven't used them
- Screw RCA (this applies to EVERYTHING electronic)

LOL @ Mr. Ramone...I'd say he hits a lot of sensitive areas right on the head. The biggest drawback that the ipod has is it's beauty. If it didn't look so nice, it wouldn't look so used after you use it. You can keep them nice, but it takes a LOT of TLC. Mine looks new but I baby it, and it was FREE :D
For all you haters, I guess I did sacrifice my personal info to a company that has sworn to not sell names and they're registered with the BBB and quite reputable. Don't hack at what you don't know.

What about the interface did you like better on the Zen and the Dell player? I'm interested, as I've never heard anyone prefer the usability of another player over the ipod.

To further derail this topic (but still remain informative) I'll tell you one thing the Zen does MUCH better than the iPod:
The whole "on-the-go" playlist feature. It's extremely easy on the Zen to add things to play after something else. You click the stick in and select "add to play," whether it be a song, album or artist. With the iPod you have to hold down the center button to add it to the "on the go" playlist. On the Zen you can easily deselect and remove things you no longer want on there, whereas with the iPod you have to wipe the whole playlist. Other than that it's about tit for tat on the features save the overall size of the units and ease of use with the transferring programs. If you get a Zen you'll WANT Notmad Explorer (third party, an extra $25) to get rid of Creative MediaSource. iTunes is among the best mp3 jukeboxes available, and the easiest to use.
Hope that, in some small way, helps.

i like the "up-down" scrolling features over the ipod "circle scroll"
its not a big deal but i do like those players much more over the ipod.
