thanks to everyone here at digital press who joined us yesterday, it was great to see the usual gang out in force. i'm really pleased with how many "new" DP members joined us for the first time yesterday, probably the biggest DP driven influx we've ever had. all told i'm thinking we had about 25 guests thru the day.a special thanks must go out to casualcoregamer for providing not only the contest prize but also a cooler full of tasty microbrew, above and beyond!

our FIGHTER CHAMPION WARRIOR GOD OF NEW ENGLAND CLASSIC GAMING 2005 TOURNEY was a solid hit. a dozen of the bravest guests signed on to fight their way to ultimate glory. our resident contest-meister kirk israel provided crucial cattle-herding skills to ensure a fun and flowing fight fest. contestants battled thru marvel vs. capcom, street fighter 2, powerstone, mortal kombat and soul calibur. the stunning yet definative defeat of fighter fanatic clubninja by hapless buttonmasher christainscott27 in the first round set the tone for a fast and furious fight. when all the dust settled rhode island's own ken claimed the title and the stick, and umm stregnthened his soul...which still burns!

trading went ahead with heavy volume, from apple IIe's to xbox, the very rare to the delightfully cheap. NECG heavyweights chad, keir and bcprs brought out the good stuff in bulk and i thank you all for the lovely additions. all told i added 20some games to various platforms and a boxload of cool shwag including this totally cheesy pac man mirror which i love. i picked up colecovision choplifter and that thomas the tank engine genny game my 2 year old wanted so badly.

as if that wasnt enough NECG news for ya theres more, a new and nifty website has been launched! i'll let webmaster clubninja introduce his handiwork but trust me its a much needed update that will add a new dimesion to our group. the next meet will be in the summer, i'm thinking early june, watch my sig for updates.

thanks again to everyone!

Yeah, because I feel so inclined to, and since me and my friend were the Newbs there... heres my take on how the NECG went and what Not.

Well...me and my friend left at around 11:30 , as we knew we were gonna get lost. We ended up arriving at the Place at 1:25, and waited the rest of the time until we saw people start arriving, then we also...entered Christan's home... I held the door open for some guy to begin with who had brought a LOT OF STUFF...

I say "Guy" because...I know he's a DP memeber, but GOD KNOWS if I could actually Indentify anyone! I was confusing people left and right! I was embrassed on that part, until I learnt to recognize people by the hats or shirts they were wearing.

I will say I ENJOYED meeting everyone there. It's one thing to speak to people online in text...it's another to actually meet these people in person. I'am...Trutfully shy, but now I feel more at ease, and will probably be more socialable come next one.... ;-).

There were also events... such as the Fighting Game Tournament, and the viewing of a video with... I don't know his name, but he modded computers into all different things and had apprenly attended the NECG in the past.() Be sure to lighten people up to his name in a reply to this please...)).... including the ever funny "Super Console" call.

Of course there was Beer and Food to be held, aswell..which was much enjoyed, and near the end, we got to see the sneak peak for the New Website Design intended for the NECG page!

Overall..I'am 100% looking forward to the next meet when it's held in it's own due time... Attending these is something I defiantly wanna make a habit of. ;-)

~Rocky

P.S. and of course...Thanks to Christan, CasualCoreGamer and Chad, and any other DP members there I met to make the experience awesome!

I didn't know about the tasty microbrew until I had already stopped drinking in order to drive home. :(

As usual, I was knocked out of the first round of the tourney. Had VF2 been one of the games I would have taken it all, I say. I WOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIGHTER CHAMPION WARRIOR GOD OF NEW ENGLAND CLASSIC GAMING 2005. My drunken boxing defeats any kung fu.

I managed to pick up some Astrocade controllers... now I just need an Astrocade.

New acquaintences & good trades/purchases made for a great day. Seeing Christian's game room has convinced me that he is indeed, truly a man of wealth and taste. 8-) That was my first game meet ever & I must say it was a pleasure engaging in gamespeak w/real, live folks seeing as how all my friends are a bunch of Philistine barbarians (I say that with love) who could give a fuck all about gaming unless it was on X-Box. I'm already geared for the next meet & this time, the brews will be tasty summer wheats. Big thanks to Christian for the hospitality and to all who I met. Y'all rock.

And I think CasualCoreGamer now holds the NECG title for longest hair... sorry ClubNinja. Yours is still purtiest, but his is longer.

I know, I know. But I just got a healthy trim last week, so I'm at an unfair disadvantage right now ;)

So, I meant to make it, but after throwing a party the night before, not getting to sleep until 6AM and then waking up very late that afternoon and still having to clean up from the night before, I knew that I would most likely not make it. And, I had to go to a fancy dress party later that night. However, with me in a suit and Kim in a nice dress, we made it to Christian's at 8:30, missing NECG by about an hour. However, we hung out with Christian, Lauren, and Wilder for a bit and then took off. Next time, I will be there...At least I will try...

I did Christian a favor by relieving him of all his utility/educational computer carts. Here they are, along with the rest of what I got from trades yesterday:

@CasualCoreGamer: That PC Engine game I sold you is Youkai Dochuki (http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=12697). The PC Engine Bible refers to it as "Tales of the Monster Path" which is why I couldn't find it in the guide. :)

Kier, thanks for the info. Great meeting you yesterday. In regards to "Super Console" guy, well, we grows 'em real slow out here in western MA. You'd be amazed (or not) at how common it is.
