Blah today I was removing a sticker from my Axelay cart (SNES). Trying to carfully remove the thing I happen to remove some of the original cart sticker as well.
The same kind ofthing has happened to me with my Mars Matrix CD. There was a disk sticker on it and when I removed it it took some of the center paint with it.

So my question is has a sticker ever ruind your good finds?

I forget what game it was, although I know it was a Dreamcaast game... I also know it was a rare, expensive game. Something like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 or the like... I got a minty copy of it in the way of box and instructions, but I didn't get to see the disk until I got home. Everything was in great condition... but the disk had a big old Blockbuster sticker on it. I decided to remove it.

I got probably 95% of the way through, pulling slowly and working to ensure no paint was taken off. I probably spent an hour at this point.

Then, the disk shattered into a million pieces.

Last time I tried that :(

Yep. Almost every other SNES cart I find has been defamed by stickers, poor peeling labels, etc. I once had a sticker on the back label that, when I tried to remove it, off came the back label! That certain game had a bunch of other stickers on it as well, in odd random places. I swear, that game must have been owned by at least 5 different rental places.

Removing stickers from carts is very easy (unless the stick is on the logo).
I dont know the english word for what I use, but its the stuff you use to remove glue that are left from bandages and stuff.
Make sure you use the right one because one time i used something simular and the cartridge started to melt hehe.

But to the topic, I "hate" when there are like huge stickers on the box. Like from post orders or store stickers. They are so to say impossible to remove without damaging the box itself :(

unfortunately yes. This brings up bad memories, but I remember searching around Gamestop alot before they got rid of all their older titles hoping I come across something good, though never having much luck at it. However, one day I did managed to hit it big and found loose copies of both Earthbound and Lufia 2 up for the taking. Needless to say it was in instant sale, but there was one big problem with Lufia 2.... There was a bunch of those ugly ass GS stickers all over it!! It sucked, but I figured what the hell and bought it anyways figuring i'd just get take them off when I got home. Anywho, to make a long story short, the stickers didn't come off all to well and now my copy of Lufia 2 looks like shit. :(

X-Men vs. Street Fighter - PlayStation(I know, crap version anyways)

Removing the sticker, whole disc Snaps in Half! Using a Blow Dryer, and removing the rededue with Goo-Gone...

I've managed cleaning up countless games in the same method (I cleaned out the PSX section at the rental place when they closed up), but this was the only one to have any problems

hasnt happened as of late, i soak the stickers in goo gone.

though some are really REALLY bad stickers. i recently bought 2 n64 games, and the rental stickers were 4 layered stickers. the last layer was an ass to get off and i ended up rubbing away some off the label, as well as the sticker pulled up a tad of the label :(

I have little trouble removing stickers if I am careful enough.

this is why i have never ever bought a game with a sticker on it. ever.

I accidently bleached out the back sticker on my Lufia 2 cart trying to remove some rental crap. But being the back of the cartridge it's not a major problem, I can easily just swap it with another cartridge when I find where I left my gamebit. So umm... no I've never ruined a cartridge. :P

I always assume that I won't use the DVD cases from any used PS2 games I find, for instance.

They've always got Gamestop or EB price stickers on them that won't come off.

I ordered a bajillion PS2-style cases in bulk on ebay (with memory card holder). Slip in the insert, add manual and disc, and voila, perfect.

I replace PS1 jewel case games the same way, often. Unfortunately, carts are harder to deal with.

These products (http://www.un-du.com/fam_AR.htm) work better than Goo Gone. They're made for crafts and are great for getting rid of stubborn, gummy crap that's stuck on labels you want to keep. Very effective, but more expensive than Goo Gone..

I use WD40 which works REALLY well, providing you've managed to remove at least the top layer of the sticker first. I had a similar experience removing a sticker from a cart. Bought an Earthworm Jim 2 for the SNES off ebay that was advertised as being "mint". Apparently, the previous owner felt that "mint' constituted the cart having 2 rental stickers on it. He'd obviously tried to remove some of the sticker residue off the front label but had damaged the label a little. I did a slightly better job but there's no way to undo that label damage. In retrospect, perhaps he was lucky I only gave him neutral feedback.
