View Full Version : Is Something Wrong with DP? (Plugin?)

I was browsing the forums late last night (something like 1:30am) - everything worked fine. Then I try to check them out this morning from my Home PC and when I go to the forums I am prompted with a "you need to install this plugin to better connect with the DP server" - or something like that. I figure that it's okay and I did it.

Was that legit?

Anyway, after I DLed it, I still couldnt access the forums, so I did a system restore to get the thing out. Still got some sort of error while trying to get into the forums.

Then I get to work, try to get to the forums from that PC, I'm given the same error that I got at home, but without the prompt to DL the plugin.

And now the forums are working fine...

Could someone please tell me a little more about what I experienced?

Yeup, what Rocky said. If yah installed that "plugin" get yourself an up-to-date Virus scanner or you could visit the Trend-Micro site which has an online one for free.

Seems the Forums got attacked for some reason. If you tried to access the URL for the "Forum Plugin" as a website (www. rather than plugin.) you'd get redirected to a forum for requests to set up attacks and hacks amongst other things.

No idea why they targeted DP though, there doesn't seem to be any mention of it in the forums.

Apparently several major forums got his last night. It wasn't just Digital Press.

I second the recommendation, if you installed that plug-in you need to scan your computer immediately for viruses.

Nope, just your run of the mill script kiddies trying to create zombie boxes as file sharing proxies or DoS attack network nodes.

It's the old j00r bas3 |2 |33|0|\|6 2 /\/\3.
