Might be a bit of a dumb question or maybe just my pc with dial-up but those us with Zonealarm ever notice long topic pages not loading all the way the first or 2nd times?

I run ZoneAlarm on my cable modem setup and have no problems loading the pages here. Sounds like it might be a dialup issue.
Figured as much, thanks for the help Flack.

I run Zone Alarm as well (and even though it yelled at me not to install this F'in P.O.S. I did anyway!) but back to this particular topic - it's never hindered my viewing of any websites - GOTTA be a dialup issue there bad boy.

Actually I think it pretty much is a dial-up issue, uninstalled it and working like it did before. I'll save the install file for when I go over to cable.

Not to burst your bubble, but the mac wouldn't have stopped you from viewing this hack nor allowed you to view the DP content while it was here. It was a non OS/Browser discriminatory nuisance. ;)

What it did probably save you from is the virus (had you actually attempted to execute the linked program.. like a couple people here did) :)

I've split the increasingly flame-war-ish portion of this topic into a separate topic all its own, so the people looking for/offering help can do so in this thread without having to wade through the rivalry. Let's keep this thread that way. Thank you.

Finally managed to get rid of the virus, Didn't seem to do anything but keep me from shutting my computer down.

Watch out for the csrss. exe file. That thing was a pain to remove. The reg cleaning program Iron Draggon mentioned works wonders though.

I got hit by the virus in a minor way and managed to just re-install windows over the old install and fix everthing. One thing I used to fix all those start and load parts of Windows was HiJackThis (http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html) which shows you everything that is being loaded on your computer during startup, context items added, browser addons, etc. Pretty good little program for 200K. Check it out if you have trouble with pages that reset your homepage and such also.

Not to start a argument but doesn't it seem odd and un-reasonable to have to re-install your entire OS to get rid of small problem. I have never had to re-install my OS or any program on my Mac. It just seems so foreign to me that people would put up with that kind of problem. x_x

I used Winpatrol to get it removed for good out my startup reg also while I was knocking it out with virus scans too.

Exactly, just replace Mac with Linux for me.

I love an almost complete lack of viruses.

Yeah good old Linux, the OS that makes it possible for hackers to do almost anything they want to everybody else in the world, while they remain safe!

Oh well, I'm glad that some others here are getting good use out of jv16 Power Tools. Now if only I could find a way to register that badboy for free! I'm still very upset that it's not freeware anymore, but considering what all it does, it sure is worth it. Now it's even better than it was when it was free!

No, I cant mention any. I'm not realy into it. But I've read articles about it. They did a a test recently, Windows Server 2003 VS Red Hat Enterprise Server 3.
Win 2003 won the security test. Dont have an english version of the article.

But I'm not even gonna start a Windows VS Linux discussion, just turns out to no good.
But put it like this, nothing is 100% secure.
