Gamegear screen question

I recived a Gamegear today and I was wondering something about the screen.
On some games the picture are much more soggy/unclear than other games. Why?
And do the screen get worn out through the years?

My screen is still perfect, been used a lot too.

Some of the games definitely look more washed out than others. I think Sonic 2 looks pretty bad.

Do you mean, like, flickering or just bleached out?

If it's the flickering, that happens over time. I'm not actually sure what causes it, but it's usually not worth the time and effort to try and replace it.

If it looks bleached out, that's just the way the Game Gear was designed. Some of the games look clear, and some of them are more hard to see than others. You could try adjusting the contrast, but there's not much more you can do besides that, I'm afraid.

Its not flickering, its more like you say, bleached out. But thanks for the info :) Altho, strange that some games are good and some are almost impossible to see whats going on.

I already have a GBA, hardly use it tho.
I bought this Gamegear for collector value. Doubt I will do any serious gaming on it.
Dont have any plans on getting a DS. Think I buy a PSP instead :)

Hmm yeah, with it's wonderful $25 a pop movies that you can buy for nearly half that on DVD and it's chronically bad battery life. But I'm sure those are "features", right Sony?

Anyway, I have two GG's, and my mom has one too, and I can tell you some games like Sonic 2 just look washed out. Interestingly, I have Sonic 2 for Master System, and when I play it on my GG /w ,the Master Gear the picture isn't nearly as washed out [although Sonic looks about 1/3 the size and the Ring counter / Life meter is almost unreadable]

You should definately get a master gear, Its pretty cool being able to play almost any sega cart on the road [oh yeah, get a Nomad as well :D ]. Now if only they made a 32x handheld....

$25 a pop movies? What do you mean? If you are reffering to the movies that are comming to PSP, i would not buy them. Why watch movies on a handheld?
And do you have a PSP? The batteries should atleast last some hours.
This doesnt bother me anyway because I will mostly use it at home. And you can buy a AC adapter if you are afraid of the battery lifetime.


I might get a nomad someday. Might be cool to check out eventho im not realy a sega fan :)

i think i know what you mean,
Castle Of Illusion is a perfect example of this, flickers like mad, gives you a worse headache than the "Nintendo Virtual Headache Boy"

Disclamer: I <3 Virtual Boy even after that comment, but i just wish it wasnt so bad on the eyes...
