View Full Version : Which franchise surprised you that never saw a game release?

I wanted to start this for a while now, but which TV show, movie, toy line, comic etc. did you think a game would have been made after? We've seen releases of Beethoven, Wizard of Oz, to Beavis and Butthead and the retarded Mary Kate and Ashley series. The ones that surprised were Gumbi, Nickelodeon's Doug, Futurama, and heck King of the Hill (made a bazillion simpsons games for crying out loud). I'm not saying that they need to pain us with such useless ideas as the above mentioned, but if they released every other useless and retarded idea, why not these?

What are the ones that you expected to see, would they be good or bad?

Let the Conversing begin. :D

There's a doug game for game boy color, and a futurama Game for PS2 & xbox. Also, I beleive namco recently acquired the rights to make a gumby game.

Anyways, I'm still surprised that they haven't made a Teen titans game yet.

I stand corrected, shoulda checked the database.

No Way, I am a mild Gumby fan, but I don't see the game doing any good.

Any others.

The Fantastic Four got a game, X-Men got a bunch, Spiderman got a couple dozen, The Punisher got a few.

Hellraiser or Nightbreed, Color Dreams be damned. Hell, ANYTHING by Clive Barker. (No, Undying doesn't count because it was an original work.)

Yeah, Daredevil came out on GBA the week the movie hit theaters...but the planned console releases (GC, PS2, AND XB) have been indefinitly postponed). Note: GBA one sold very badly below expected sales.

Dunno...but shouldn't a Daredevil game have come out years ago? All the lame superheroes had their day on the NES. They could've made some lame martial arts scroller and called it Daredevil. They could've called Ninja Gaiden "Daredevil". Sure, he's blind, but that hardly matters from a 3rd person perspective.

I remember seeing the trailer for the Daredevil movie, and as lame as it was calling out "God, finally!"

I only have this to say about the GBA release:

My answer is the same as it was for the other thread about the license you are waiting for: Kill Bill (although it still could get made eventually as not every game based on a movie comes out when the movie does). I want two games: the action/adventure game with the bride, and the fighting game with the characters from the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad.

They aren't really ranger rip offs so much as...let me explain real quick

PR is made from the super sentai series, been going on since the 70s, features teams of 3-6 people in colored uniforms, ect.

Beetleborgs i believe is made from a show in the Metal Hero line of shows, which is of the same genre as sentai but discernably different.

VR troopers was...either another metal hero show or some other single run mechanical hero show.

The genre is basically anything that's live-action, japanese, and full of special effects, and is called Tokusatsu. Kamen Rider, Sentai, metal heroes, and even stuff like godzilla can fall into the genre.

WOW I'M OFF TOPIC

so to stay on topic: http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/listing.cmf?title=VR+Troopers some do exist

There was a game planned adn then canned. I believe it may have even had some work done to it. I vaguely remeber seeing a screen shot of this game in a game mag. I could be wrong, may have just been an article.

My vote goes to a Beer Tycoon game.

im surprised there hasnt been more rock inspired games... with all the crap marketing record labels do these days. There are a few out there

Journey
Moonwalker
Crue Ball
Revolution X
Sega CD "Make Your Own Music Video" Series

im not saying i would like the games, but in the fleeting chance say a Ramones or Sonic Youth inspired game comes down the pike, id be all over it :)

C'mon, Evil Dead games, but no Romero-endorsed zombie games based on his Night/Dawn/Day of the Dead films? A first person shooter in a Romero-esque zombie landscape would riock. I know there is something being planned (probably to coincide with Land of the Dead this year), but nothing yet.

I was about to say "Gilligan's Island," but there was an NES game, wasn't there?

How about a Captain N game? Venture through the various classic Nintendo-themed lands? That'd be cool.

Even though one game came out (only in Japan, and I have it, and it SUCKS) I'm waiting for the PS2 Game based on Cowboy Bebop. NEED THIS!!!

Apparently it tells a new tale that (obviously) fits between the already existed anime episodes (just like KOHD fit in between the episodes on the 20s...)

I'm suprised there hasn't been at least a really bad Kill Bill game released yet.

Invader Zim...I was hoping for a GBA game or something. I'd love to have my own version of Vampire Piggy Hunter.

Venture Bros. would be delicious. And why has there not been a Trigun game that actually uses characters from the series?

I'll second Zim & Venture Bros. I heard sega was going to make a trigun game, but it never happend. I think the main problem is the fact that Vash doesn't ever kill someone, and It's kinda tough to make a game without killing! LOL

There is one. It's a PC adventure game. It also has one of the greatest tetris minigames built in. You stack up dead bodies and they make squishy noises and quote things like "I'm not quite dead".

I also remeber a monty pythons flying circus entertainment thing for the PC back in the launch of FMV and multi-media gaming, kind of point somewhere on the screen and it took you to another crazy pythonesq scene...not realy a game.
and then there is the tribute in the jet set willy games with the squishing foot.

yeah, Danger Mouse is a text adventure for C64 and count duckula is somewhat of a platformer. Ahh those days, duckula was a nice cartoon. Anyway, It's too bad there's only one Granzort based game, for the PC-Engine :(. Anyway, I've never seen a She-Ra game LOL , I mean there are He-Man games, but no She-Ra LOL. How about Police Academy? I know the NES game was canned, but did an Academy game ever come out for any platform? How I longed for a game where I could be Steve Gutenberg...

Speaking of the 'Gute, were there ever any games based on the Short Circuit movies?

How about Disney's Gummi Bears? Drink a Gummi Berry Juice power-up and kill your enemies by bouncing 'em to death -- seems like a platformer just waiting to happen. And it had the best theme song ever.
