This might be a question no one can answer, but does anyone know of an import wholesaler? I'm planning on opening a videogame/movie shop in the western GTA and would love to delve into game imports. A lot of people are still afraid of shopping online (god knows why...) and I'd love to get those people into my store.

If anyone knows of a place that either has very good pricing or wholesale discounts, please let me know. I've already checked out liksang, but they have limited wholesale capabilities.

Any help would be VERY much appreciated.

Lik-Sang is the first that comes to mind.

I usually get from lik-sang or play-asia (when I have discount coupon) for most next-gen.
For retro I have my cousin in Japan get items off Yahoo Japan for me... :p

for PS2 I normally get from eBay AU or when EB is having discount days...

I've dealt with a few over the years so I'll see if I have any contact info around. It's been some three years since I dealt with any of them so I can't say any of them are still around. The one I used the most for DC & NGP stuff was in NYC.

I don't know if you've researched prices, but there's not much to be made on imports (or new games in general). Typical new import console release was $44-48 wholesale. There are some importers (technically exporters since they're based out of Japan) with better prices but only when you're buying in very large quantity.

That place is REALLY expensive.

That's because the shipping is based on the weight of what you purchased.

There's no such thing as an import wholesaler. You'd have to develop a source in Japan itself to really get anything, and even then, with shipping and customs duty, figure on it being cheaper to buy from eBay than your store. To my knowledge, there's no way to do it...and if there was I would have :D

What are you talking about, their prices are great. Look at the prices of systems. I bought a SuperGrafx for $98 shipped. PC Engine for $120 shipped. And 4 various games (ones you pay at least $30-50 each for elsewhere) for like $43 shipped. If you can find a site that is cheaper than that, by all means please post it here.

Well I won't be competing with Ebay. If someone is coming into my store to check out import games, they either don't want to deal with Ebay, or they want to gawk at the lovely wares. :)

i do know someone in japan, and we discussed doing some mass importing. when he was living here, i told him to bring back a bunch of stuff to sell on ebay. he spent about $500 and ws able to pay his rent for three months with what he made back on ebay and personal sales. but that was almost 5 years ago. we went back and forth with a few emails a couple of months ago and went through figures for a day or two and realized it wasn't too cost effective in the long run for me to get a ton of stuff from him there. especially as prices started dropping on loads of bad stuff and going up on games that would sell, the ebay cheapskate factor, and other stuff that prevented me from taking the plunge (mostly my own finances going south, lol).

There is plenty of money to be made but it's all being made by the wholesaler it seems. If you live in Japan, you can buy games for the discounted retail price at any store, and sell them for $5 more online easily... and that's only buying 1 copy. :)
