Hey, that's Mike Mika! I've been to his house, even took pictures there. It's at our game room site, even.

Heh, I remember pictures of that ladder!

BTW, I've already e-mailed them and I'm sure several other people will to. I'm not sure if they're aware of the flood gates they may have just opened with their offer.

Here's his pics on DP:

The link in the other thread didn't work anymore. The ones on this site look a lot neater and more organized than the ones on 1up.com. I wonder what happened? ;)

So there were some finalized Half-Life's for DC released, or?

The hotel I was just at in Vail had one of those.

I would have made an offer on it, except for the fact that I have no earthly idea how I'd ever get it home without paying through the nose to do so.

There were no copies of Half-Life that were ever released. The game was pressed however, and was then destroyed when Valve decided not to release it. I can't put my finger on it without seeing some of my games, but I think that his version looks like a homemade one. I could be wrong however, as I would assume that there are some official copies out there somewhere...

Probably, he says he spends about $1000 a year on his collection though, so if yuo want to get picky thats about two AES games a year :)

Nice. One of those Slurpee cups from 1981 has Sonic on it. Must be worth a fortune.

How the hell did Mike get that Star Wars arcade machine through that little ladder-stair hole thing?

I'm sure there are lots of people around here who spend $1000 a year on games. That's $83.30 a month.

If I remember correctly, theres another entrance that goes directly outside. (One of those open up, cellar door type things you see in hurricane and horror movies)

I figured out what is missing! I believe it to be a copy with the inserts -- the black casing Dreamcast games all have a grey "@ Dreamcast @ Dreamcast" in the spine. That's what is missing from this copy (and the picture was taken clear enough so I can see it). I believe it is a copy.

I must say this is the most impressive game room I've ever seen. I think it's just plain bad ass tho have your game room going straight down into a 1-room hole.

As soon as I get my own house, That's what I'm doing.

It's especially impressive considering the Sonic the Hedgehog character wasn't created until 1990. ;)

Very nice collection, tons of awesome stuff there...though I gotta say I can't find any sensible order at all to it...games not in alphabetical order, lots of games in generic cases, too. x_x I could spend all day in there just getting it nice and in order.

I wish I could top that, but all that I can top of that is how much he spends a year on games. I spend well over $1000 a year on games. That's simple, it only takes a measly $20 a week! Just about anyone can spend $1000 a year on games. So that claim to "fame" is one of the stupidest I've ever heard.

I would NEVER put my collection in the basement. I'm assuming that amazing room is underground. I can't imagine what would happen if it floods (knock on wood) :(

It is great that he has all that stuffand such a huge space for it.

It is sad that it is so terribly organized and that with all the money nobviously spent on games there is not a better way to get to it all.

A small ladder into the basement filled with things piled everywhere.

I've been to Mike's house. He has another way into the room from the outside, as Sph1nx guessed.

I'll forward this link along to Mike so he can answer anything left unanswered that me might want to answer... um, yes.

He's no stranger, folks. He's "Mike Mika" on our forums, haven't you seen him here before?

Mike Mika only has 8 posts and his last one was over a year ago! Actually, he only had 2 posts in 2004. It's easy to see how (especially some of our newer) users might have missed him.

That is a sweet collection, but I have a hard time believing he only spends $1,000 a year on video game related stuff. I spend $2,500 easy on it, and my collection isn't anywhere near as sweet as his. He must be getting some really good deals or something?

Hehe. Thanks, guys, for the comments. To answer a few things-

1. Half-life, very legit, manual is complete and printed. (Black and white inside). It's definitely not a fake, but I promised the person who gave it to me that I would not reveal his identity. The game disc itself was never mass-produced, so it resides on a Dreamcast Pre-production disc.
2. There is definitely another access way into the room, so I didn't have to disassemble Star Wars. ;)
3. It is not underground, but it has flooded on occassion. However, I have put in place a complicated channeling system to take care of that. It also has a 24hour dehumidifier.
4. Believe it or not, most who actually visit it, think it is quite organized. For the pictures, we actually moved a lot of stuff around to make it look more "cluttered." Like a true mad scientist, I know where everything is.
5. HA! Sonic being grouped in with the old cups proves time travel works. ;)
6. I do get a lot of stuff for free through friends, so my game spending really isn't where it would be if I didn't. Also, being married, I'm sort of on a budget when it comes to games.
7. I would love to have more room, but the wife insists anything game related go into the pit. !

If you're ever in the Bay Area, drop me a message, I'd love to get in touch with folks and talk shop.

Best,
Mike

How long has he been collecting?
